    Sometimes these things take a (really long) time to sink in for me, buZZsaw BRAD. I'm leaning towards your mystery wood being American Chestnut. Check out this post from MikeInMa when he took one down earlier this year. The first few pictures anyway. Large growth rings, yellow to tan wood, younger bark is smooth with multi-colored flecks of gray and brown, older bark takes on a more furrowed look... Of course I could be way off here considering I'm hopelessly obsessed with these trees and see them everywhere... :loco: :crazy:

    Funny you mentioned this. I spotted those splits today while pulling an order. They are directly behind that stack of BL rounds right by where we loaded the elm. Hopefully the BL gets split soon.
    Do i see a return trip in your future?
