Decided to try something a little bit different this year for kindling. Been seeing a Facebook marketplace ad for kiln dried hardwood stick bundles. Kid gets them from cabinet shops and cuts them to length and wraps em up. 2 bucks a piece, plus they delivered. Got 50 bundles. Figured let's try em out, will also work to put in our bundles wrapped up in newspaper too. They drove over 30 miles to deliver. They were on time and very friendly.
Can’t say I’ve seen that before. Looks like a nice little niche market that kid has. There’s something to be said for having a large amount of ready to go kindling, cut consistently, and is easily storable.
I would have bought that too. Good on the kid for doing something productive & useful! Tell him if he ever gets to MI I'll buy as much as he can haul, that would be really handy with my campfire wood bags.
I’d definitely buy some. I can always use kindling. Plus I like supporting kids with work ethic. I’ve also bought 4 bags of the Boy scout white cheddar popcorn this year. Partly because I like to support the kids. And mostly because it’s delicious!
Almost feels like he should be charging more for them. They have free delivery to the closest towns. We are past 15 miles further away. They just asked for 5 or 10 for the extra miles. I gave more than that. Saved me over an hour of driving, which I was happy about.
I agree and the free delivery. I tried retailing wood bundles couple years back and had a minimum order for free delivery within a certain range. Didnt pan out and stick to just wholesale them now. Bundles like that are $5-6 in front of stores around here. Good on you for supporting him!
Little update/correction. He sells the bundles for 4 dollars a piece. 2.50 each for 25 bundles and 2 each with a minimum of 50.
