Delivered, at speed, to my front yard sometime today. I spent a minute thinking about whether I should take it or not, but figured that a nice oak log going into my wood pile about made up for the damage it did arriving here. And whomever lost it deserved to lose it for not chaining their load.
The guy would be a fool coming back for it .Could have hurt someone. How would he now.. Glad you took it.
I concur with everyone here. Great points. I'd have it in my stacks as soon as I took the picture from the road if I were you.
The chain saw got started right after the pic was taken. 5 minutes later, my stacks were just a little bit bigger.
Yep, that's all yours, guy that lost it is fortunate it didn't do real damage. The fine for an un secure load from the motor carrier officer is way higher than a whole truck load of those logs is worth. They take a very dim view of stuff like that. CSS & don't lose any sleep over that one.
Chances are by the time he noticed it was gone..You already had it cut up and added to your stacks...Lol
I think I might go for a drive...see if it has any buddies up or down the road...if things were loose enough for one to fall off, there very well may be more!
Yup, definitely a road hazard. It’s not like you went out and took it from somewhere. A hungry lawyer would turn that into a liability suit if someone had gotten hurt. Best solution was your stacks. You did the right and safest thing. Give thanks and be warm.
Honestly it would be a hefty fine if it happened here The d.o.t. guy's live to ticket Truckers Or the local or staties would've fine them as well Even if it was just a individual with a trailer. And I don't blame them Unsecured loads are extremely dangerous on our roads You can only see so far on the twisty roads here Heavy wood industry I've seen a lot of accidents over the year's.
