Yes, crapola is a word. I added it o my vocabulary over 40 years ago. Carry on and go ahead and seed that lawn! Use some old or some cheaper stuff, I would. I just seeded a couple weeks ago and it is finally coming up now.
Had a golf scramble for a charity, but the rain made to course too soggy. Attended my Friday lunch instead. A little work, and then home. I have accumulated some rounds this week, hoping to lure Kenzie out Sunday for some splitting and loading the woodshed. Then some visiting. had a very nice maple fall across one of our main logging roads. I cut into it about 80 percent with plan to lift it with the hope it would break at one of the cuts. It’s about 40 feet long. Since brother and the guys are starting archery season, I had to steal into the woods with the tractor since they weren’t here. It worked out and I broke it off around 15 feet. The rest will have to be cut in place with a lift from the tractor. hoping to fill up the shed and tie me ove r until there is a break in hunting.
Measured the wood room and ended up with 5 rows of 8' by 7.5'. Had a little room left over 3' by 5' (2 rows) and a 3' by 3' first to be burnt row. Way over 4 full cord by any measure! I may add a little bit more just outside the basement door as the prospect of having to replenish wood supply during winter months no longer appeals to me. I am not sure how much wood I'll go through as it is the first year in the house.
That has been a used car/truck place since back in the early 50's duck Leavitt ran it back then. Lots of other changes to that small area. The school is in what was a cornfield. The Skehan diary farm and business, Robinson's Nursing home, Janell's restaurant, the Gardiner Armory, Williams construction, St. Johnsbury trucking, and Gardiner Commonwealth Shoe all gone now, some buildings repurposed, but most just shut down.
Fire lit on one side, about noon I’d guess. Lot of rain here before so everything is soaked. The fire is now burning good. Chugging it’s way through the pile. I have the tractor all ready with grapple to load it up after the center burns out. I will be able to let it burn a few more hours before pushing everything in again. Steady rain is making me feel good. I would not have lit it if we hadn’t had all that rain and a forecast of 90% or more for 4-5 more hours while it burned.
I've been seeding now and it's been working great. I'm reseeding the areas that were stump ground this spring. Some of the seed died off after apparently not watering enough this summer.
Just dropped that last ash at my house. It was a leaner into my neighbor's yard, but I got it down safely with no harm, except to a couple trash sumac branches. Wish I had a locker on my ariens GT. Could've used extra traction.
Walked back onto the front porch with wife as she got home. She pointed to the new pillows on the porch swing and asked me what did I think? I said that’s the same color of orange as on my new Stihl 362 chainsaw. She then said “what is wrong with you?” And closed the door in my face in front of me. How rude… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
