EHD has been hitting areas all over the northeast this year and it's pretty bad here in NJ. I hunt three different spots within a 15 mile radius and haven't seen the numbers that I usually do. Last night my cam sent pictures that confirms it's at one of the spots. Such a shame to see them suffer like this. She did sit up a few minutes after the second picture but I'm sure she's dead somewhere nearby in the next day or two. Praying for a frost soon that will kill off the insect that's causing this.

Can't like that. Mother Nature sure can be a B!tch some times.

Very sad for sure , I hate to see animals suffer like that.

I am an avid hunter and have no problem with a deer in my cross-hairs but having them suffer is a different story.

Gheez. Every time you turn around there's another virus or bug killing our deer/wildlife or trees. Ugh

Sad, but thanks for posting. I had never heard of EHD.

usually develop clinical signs of HD about 7 days following infection

Deer will die in 8-36 hours.

I'm actually headed in to hunt this stand this afternoon and I expect to find her dead nearby.

Well i didn't find her dead and thankfully I saw a group of healthy looking does with a few spikes. So hopefully we get a frost soon and they stay healthy until then!

Yes, we need a frost but are still probably at least 3 weeks away if not more for that.
