Even if I did know, I'd have a hard time giving/taking mushroom advice online. One mis-ID and somebody is gonna have a bad day.
Created my own conjecture. Turns out its Berkeley’s polypore, which is edible but not such good eats. Tossed it in the rubbish bin.
I just came across this post it looks similar but not as orange like chiken of the woods that we have.We have some that started to grow last year next to a oak.WE harvest it and this year we got more than last year.My son also found some next to an old stump across the road on some of our property.My wife knows alot about mushrooms and edible plants and has said it can be bad if its growing near pine or cedar.I have some pics I can upload later on this mushroom. What I can tell you is it is awesome mixed with some ramps (wild onion)and some backstraps .Had some for dinner sunday.You can also freeze them for storage.

Yep I would say no. But you figured that out. There is chicken and hen of woods. I only know from watching the mushroom picking couple on "filthy riches" the reality show on discovery...I think?
I'm not very adventurous about wild mushrooms. With so many toxic ones, I only know enough to know to leave them alone and pick my mushrooms off the grocery shelves.
