Drilling holes in Railroad Ties

Well, after all of that fuss, I got it done and it wasn’t that bad. I got 8 holes drilled about 1.5” deep. First I used a hole saw. That got gummed up quickly, so I used compressed air to clean off the blade and to clean out the groove. Once I was done with the hole saw, I hit it with the paddle bit which accomplished the job without having to clean the holes. The drill I had did not have a second handle but I ended up not needing it. Both tools have remained sharp.

I have railroad ties in my yard and they would fall apart with a pocket knife. Mine must be old, not these high-quality freshies.
