Seal drivers are good if you’re really into a series (see: BuckthornBonnie and 1125s lol). Not needed, though.

Well I literally tapped it like 3 times super light with a 14mm long socket and the seal looks like it really went in there. I hope it's ok.

Is this good enough for the oil line? OEM kit. 2m9" was too long. So I had to retrim the hose and so I just cut a slit to get the brass part out. It sticks out a tiny bit but I think it will feed fine.

Got the oil pump in, worm gear washer and sleeve, worm gear. Now I think I will look at the AV buffers.

Ideally, the line would barely protrude from the round hole in the case. The brass insert is meant to expand the hose tight to the case so all the oil goes into the bar, where a loose fit could let oil back down into the case

I like that. I don't like it when people just tell you to do something and offer no reason or explanation. Only people willing to really teach do that and people who want to learn appreciate it. Heh heh.

That FW seal is now at a better depth for this series. Too deep and it can get too close to the bearing.

    Thank you.

I cleaned up a lot of the parts that I will be reusing. Good thing I have 4,356 cans of brake cleaner.

I was also pizzed for a second that I lost the tension mechanism for the chain brake - the part that the actual circular brake ring connects to with the pivots - but it was still attached to the handle piece. Phew!

Cleaned up the outer pieces. Next up reconnect handle to engine.

Thanks I will check that out!

Do I need to install this gasket? I don't recall pulling a carb gasket off when taking the saw apart and I also don't have an old one lying around.....

Silly me thought both remaining gaskets were for the muffler until I actually looked at it.

Looks like it attaches to the carb. Easy enough to install. I will double check.

I put the saw toghether. Almost no issues but a few minor ones.

The worst is that I can't find the spark arrestor screen but I definitely have the rust spark arrestor screw so I don't know where the hell it is. Smh.

I was able to snip the cracked portion of the impulse line and re-use the one that was there. No idea if it was a stock line but I have a spare AM one just in case. easy enough to get to replace.

Put some lithium grease here on the switch.

The Stihl oil pump had a plastic insert on the left side here. The AM one I bought has a soft rubber one. Anyone with any preferences? I kept the hard plastic one just in case.

    2021-10-03 15.21.56.jpg

Cleaned with carb cleaner and then applied this high temp paint I used on my spark arrestor for my outdoor firepit which has worked out well. Did not prime that and did not prime this.

    2021-10-03 15.35.30.jpg

Sprayed some lithium grease over all the moving parts of the chain brake mechanism (minus the brake itself of course)

These pics are upside down but there was a tiny crack on the chain brake handle near the hole. I'll keep an eye on it.

    2021-10-03 16.05.13.jpg 2021-10-03 16.05.20.jpg

I also somehow lost the pin for the chain brake band.....so luckily this polishing attachment for the dremmel was the exact perfect diameter. So I wrapped it in a towel and snipped it with my pliers. Easy fix.

2nd coat of paint on the muffler. Looks like new!

    Aforementioned spark arrestor screw

    2021-10-03 16.46.02.jpg

Muffler bolts plus one extra screw. I think I had an extra one from the chain catch.

    2021-10-03 17.07.49.jpg

Going to save the 10 hardness annular buffers. They were not damaged.

    2021-10-03 17.07.54.jpg

On a tangential note the FW cover for my 028 WB AV is weird because the bottom right corner is rounded and while there is a screwhole on the body for the cover the cover only has the 3 holes. Is this normal?? This was the saw that was given to me in almost like new condition in the case with the sales receipts and spare TS chain and documation so I doubt the previous owner replaced the cover. What is that all about???

It's Sunday. No power tools. Mon-Fri 8-6, Sat 9-5. Plus I don't have any Motomix left so I will pick up several quarts. The local dealer doesn't have them in gallons and said they ordered them a long time ago and have only received quarts.

I turned the flywheel after putting it together and got some nice compression as there was a noticeable difference from before I connected things together.

Filled the oil tank. Fingers crossed on leaks.

Also waiting for the muffler paint to dry 24 hours. :D

Although after that just maybe try to start it even without the spark arrestor to see if it works!
