Had to stop by the compost center and no real time to scrounge wood but i spied the mounds anyhow. IMG_5691.JPG IMG_5689.JPG Only this lonely piece of black locust got my attention...and cut to the right length! IMG_5690.JPG I checked the area for more and none to be seen. Probably buried. It has a new home!

Looks like dune sugar maple in that big pile. I'd definitely go get that.

Don't like the look of that nasty dump water though. Brad did good settling for one.

    That is a lonely one.:(

Last week I stopped roadside to scrounge some red oak. Could only get 4 pieces. Rest too heavy by myself. I planned to bring more muscle the next night. Passed by the pile in the morning and it was gone. I was disappointed, (it was some nice stuff) but figured what I got was better then nothing.

Thats the back of the mound where the commercial guys dump pictured from the front. I couldnt even drive back there as the area was crammed with brush, big machines and grind piles. Ive been told i could use a saw which ive only done once a couple years ago. If i had more time and less wood at my disposal id haunt them daily/weekly to scrounge, cut my length and leaved the nuggets there.

Trust me i looked and looked for more BL. After several vehicles dump their load he pushes it into the mound with the huge payloader. Im asked to scrounge safely probably for liability of course.

It was nasty and deeper than normal. There wasnt much in the way of shorter lengths to grab. I did consider the EWP in pic #2 for milling but they were covered in sap. You know how pleasant that stuff is.
