Sidewalls on today's tires are a joke. got a flat in just about the same spot from a stick.....Yeah, a STICK! Poked right through the sidewall. I know, I know, plan on replacing the tire with a new one, right? Not so quick-stopped a a dollar store and picked up one of these flat tire repair kits just to get us home. $4-ish. That was a year and a half ago! The tire is still functioning as it should and has never lost air since that date! Made a believer out of us. Maybe this will help you once you get the bone pulled out..... umm....... errr..... Never mind!
Watched a guy run over a big piece of scrap iron with a loader. Tore a 2” gash in the sidewall. Stacked about 20 plugs in it and pushed 10 more in after it tightened up. Ran it for a few more years like that
I have plug kits in every vehicle. My four wheeler tires have at least 10 plugs per tire. Wish they would have worked on my mouth when I was little, probably have received only a small fraction of the razor strop beatings.
We used to have 4 wheelers come into the shop that had so many plugs in the tires the darn thing looked like a porcupine! Usually belonged to a farmer...
When I was in Central African Republic a few years back there were guys with little "tire repair" shacks along the road...they would take a needle and thread and sew a patch on your tire...no kidding. No idea how that works, but supposedly it did/does. They also would take old inner tubes and cut them into 1-2" wide strips to use as tie downs/bungee cords...another lil trick that actually works very well! The city here uses these same inner tube strips to keep the trash can liners from blowing out of the outdoor public trash cans at the park.
