I just emailed the 4 pictures of my saws serial plates to me, and saved to an email folder. Record/save yours, folks.
Yes, that is true. You can do it free through the court prosecutor and he'll have that over his head all his life until he settles up. Yes, It's a pain in the @SS but dam if I wouldn't make him suffer some!!!
A electrician i know has fence chargers on some of his trucks. Some kind of conducting rubber strap lays on the ground. A remote turns it on and off. Countless stories of people trying the handles and yelping even though warning signs are on it. Anyone have experience with the new tiny GPS trackers ? I see they have one small enough to even hide in a wallet. Could be the beginning of a new hunting sport !! Leave something out as bait and track them down !!
I have this sign on my shed! Maybe you should Invest in one... You are no longer a trespasser, you are a target 8"x12" New Aluminum Sign | eBay
Im late to the party with this thread. Glad it worked out for you farmer steve. Besides the theft in itself, another thing that pizzes me off is you can't tell me the pawn shop don't see any red flags when these thieves come in with stolen items. Too bad you can't make a deal with the thief. He picks which hand of his, you pick the saw to use.
I'm late to the thread, sorry to hear about the saws farmer steve . There's unfortunately plenty of lowlife's out there. Glad you got a couple back, hope the rest come back too. I will get all of my saws serial numbers on pics and that way I have them in Google. I do have some saws numbers on file, but I need them all. I'll once again mention that security cams are very inexpensive now. You don't even need power run to then to use them as some have rechargeable batteries that last a good month.
During my search for my stuff at pawn shops I came across some info that shops had to do a daily report of serial numbers of things they bought to the police. May differ state to state. Most pawn shops are licensed so if they want to stay in business.... On a lighter note my neighbor was in FL visiting the in-laws. They went to a pawn shop to buy his MIL a replacement cell phone. (FIL is squeaky cheap) He asked the owner what all the pictures were hanging behind the counter on the wall. Guy told him it was all the people that had sold him stolen stuff over the last year.
The pics would make a bigger impact if the person had a blood soaked gauze wrapping on a nub of an arm.....
I need to get some cameras, but another level of security I’ve added is padlocked cables through the saw handles. Cables also wrap around metal posts in my locked utility room. Hopefully it would delay or deter a snatch and grab or give me enough time to grab a gun. No way I could afford to replace an all original 084AV, nor would I want to look for one.
I say once caught and convicted, make him cut and stack wood for a month or 2 for people who need assistance! I'll bet he'll never steal another $1000.00+ dollar saw again.
