So I’ve been chipping away at this firewood pole delivery every Sunday for the last few weeks and today could’ve been bad if it weren’t for good Ppe, these carhartt boot saved my azz! I was carefully cutting these poles when I had a roller, it rolled right on top of my left foot to the point where I could not get my foot free, there was no pain but after trying to free my foot for a few minutes, it was pinned in the red circle area, I decided my only choice was to cut the log again at the red arrow and relieve some weight, it worked but it was scary, be careful out there my friends!!!!

Glad you're okay Andy. That's why I like my logs piled on stringers so I can roll one to the end and just work on the one. My neighbor cuts all along his pile but I don't think he's had anything happen...yet.

You definitely didn't want to be watching me a couple of weeks ago cutting in the pile with only my running shoes without socks and cut-offs in the heat.
Most folks here would've freaked out, and rightfully so.

Do those have the internal metatarsal guard, or just steel toe?
I wear steel toe now, but after working at a company that required metatarsal shield boots, and having them "do their job" a time or two, I'm a believer...I should really still be wearing them...o_O
Glad this turned out OK for you...I know a guy that got really messed up in the exact same scenario, except it rolled on his leg and crushed it...he was way back in off the road, cell phone in the truck!

It’s a steel toe, very comfortable and it could have been bad! Thank you

I can't say I've had that happen, but ppe has saved me more than once. I've hit my chaps a few times & the steel toe in my boot once. I'm very glad you had good boots, quick thinking to cut the log away & no injury. This work is dangerous enough when we do everything "right". PPE is the last line of defense before the hospital or funeral home. Good reminder & thanks for posting.

Glad you're okay Andy. I couldve ended a lot worse. I cut on a log deck back in Spring 2019 and there were some massive logs. Scary to think what couldve happened. I always have boots on when cutting too.

    Nice pile of wood BTW!

Exact reason I started pulling individual logs off the pile prior to cutting. To many spooky stories! Stay safe everybody.
