My 261 is carb. NIB from ebay two years ago for $400. I know, i know i stole it! My gripe with anything with electronics is expensive repair when it breaks so i was hesitant at first a couple years ago. Now having owned and used them i like it. My 261 is my go to saw as well. 16" bar. Id upgrade to Mtronic if the right deal came along.

+1 for the older 261 saws.
I keep looking for another to keep as a spare, if I could find one at a good price.

The 20" bar on my 290 didn't have enough reach to get through the last 2 rounds off the butt end today. So the saw ran with a 25" for about 30 seconds.

Started off with the 661 and it got dulled on the first log. The big white oak bark scales were holding a bunch of grit. Lots of sparks. The 404 chain on the 084 held up better. Used the 462 to finish cuts. Had to sharpen them all when I got done. I spent more time sharpening and cleaning the saws yesterday than cutting.

This guy was at the top of the dumpster at work today!

And…just tuned a 365 Special tonight after a limiterectomy. Next on the punch list is getting oil to the bar and I may need that worm gear if your done with it.

you do a very nice job on clean up!

    • left a little fat for now with the cover off

it’s not oiling. Worm gear is worn but the adjuster screw is also missing.

Had a weed whacked fuel filter on it. I think that leaned it out. Came to me scored and 100 psi. Cleaned the cylinder and replaced fuel filter, line and a carb rebuild. Passes pressure so I left the seals

    • New piston and ring, obviously

Haha The 462 was only saw that I didn’t have to stop and pull noodles out of the clutch cover.
