Change of plans this afternoon so i was able to hit the score for a bit. Cut about 2/3 PU and the balance was nuggets/shorts from both cuttings as i ran out of time. Half cord load. 036 & 361 tag teamed today. Still lots more there. Had a hitchhiker on my hat. Took it off in the truck and didnt know how long it was there. Those who know me and have seen pics of me my hat is always backwards...right MikeInMa?
Wonder how long it would have taken him to get her and shirt off it that spider had crawled down his neck...
I was stopped at the first traffic light when i took the hat off and tossed it on the passengers seat, then saw Ida the spida! Yeah i wonder what i wouldve done? I often swat bees with my hat. Once one was still in the hat and stung me on the scalp when i put the hat back on!
Had time to split some late this afternoon. Hours worth of splitting. Hoping to finish up at the score tomorrow. Should be one more load.
When thats done... go a get some thin plate of metal. Pop rivot it down... Did that to my fender of my four wheeler after it flipped over into a tree and broke the back fender...
Hit the score for the third time this afternoon. Pretty humid day for this time of year. Couple hours work and got rained on twice. First time i hopped in the truck and fired up the AC. Sun came out while its raining and sure enough...rainbow. No pot of gold unless the BL in my PU is the gold! 2/3 of a PU full. Lots of smaller wood. 024 & 361 cut. 024 hasnt seen wood in some time. Fired right up. Cool mushroom growing on a BL stump. Looks like corn. Bulk clean up soon in my town. Lots of goodies by the curb. Scrounged this sledgehammer there. Iron pipe handle that ill replace.
Caught up on all the BL splitting this afternoon. Made another half cord rack and filled it. With the three loads its well over 1.5 cords including shorts/nuggets. Another couple of racks need to be made. I saved all the splitter crumbs for the firepit. Still more wood at the score to get.
Splitter crumbs. Funny there. Nice looking stacks. The scores don't get too much better that that one!!! Maybe the dance would have been the buzz saw jig..... Sca
I save splitter scrap in 2 plastic 55gal drums that have the tops cut off. Then put em in the basement for firestarter. Combined with a handful of noodles, makes a quick job of lighting up.
Yeah, its something i normally wouldnt save unless bigger shards and black locust Using the tarp under it and being a newbie to hydros i took it last time when i raked. My friend had the tarp from somewhere and gave it to me for stack covers so its now for under the splitter when i use it in grass. Hydros seem to make more crumbs than splitting by hand. You have no shortage of noodles thats for sure.
Final load pulled today. Looks like it was 4-5 trees blown over. Maybe two cord for the score. Didnt wanna get close lined so i left the oak. Couple stump cut offs i may use for bench bases. Score done.
