    From the weekly times newspaper.

How is this for a close call.

Kate Nolan went for a bike ride with her son and daughter last week on their Goorambat farm when they came across this uninvited visitor.

The 5-foot long Eastern Brown snake came off second best when it got caught in the cog and chain of Kate’s son’s bike.

Kate thinks the snake may have got spooked by her daughter who was rode past first, then reared up ready to strike when her son who was following rode past.

Luckily, everyone (except for the snake) walked away unharmed.

The incident comes as a timely reminder to be aware of snakes ahead of summer, Kate said, who was surprised at how early in the season the snake was out and about.

“It’s very early given it was a week ago,” Kate said. “We would normally get one or two on the property, so that’s one down for the season.”

Way too many members on here dislike snakes.

Maybe they all suffer from a reptile dysfunction?

I am among those who HATE snakes. I know they have their place in the scheme of things. I leave them alone, but still hate to have them around. I had a dog who didn't like them either. She would toss them around until they were dead.

Only good snake is a dead one. Bats are ok as long as they are thoroughly cooked or so they claim in today’s world.

I also wondered what a Goorambat was, even though being capitalaized as a proper noun likely meant it was a place.
