Nah, I've got a really good mechanic & service writer/manager in here now, so I can play hookey out in the wood yard some afternoons. It's pretty nice actually. This business is what buys all the toys, so I gotta keep it rolling.

I hear ya. Hopefully i never get TAD. CAD is bad enough. When you have the right people it helps for sure. Nor easy to find reliable help. One reason i work alone. Enjoy your toys and post lots of pics....just no more dingus pics please!

So today was my last day of summer. In service day tomorrow and classrooms full of kids on Thursday. I have delivered just over 50 cords the past few weeks and have just under 50 more ordered. As long as my weekends arent rainy, I hope to not fall more than 2-3 weeks behind on deliveries. I was finally able to get this area cleaned up, including raking and hauling away bark and debris from where logs have never been dropped before. (Mom will be happy because she wasn’t overly pleased my firewood spread out as much as it did this year.)

Maybe this question has been posed before, but do you allow any customers to come load up their own trailer/truck (with you/someone present)…?

Yes I do. The biggest problem I have with pick up customers is many don’t show up at the time we agree upon and it messes up my delivery schedule. I would love if everyone picked up and came when they say they would.

    Gotcha.
Yep, I see PITA written all over that. If only people acted and did like they say they will. :picard:

Thank you. Clean and efficient are both important. My mom started to get on me about how there were logs everywhere but not much I could do when it was being dropped off so fast and then having the tractor down for 8 weeks. She got back from Florida last night so I hope she’s happy with how it looks now.

Now that school has started, the only thing I do firewood related these days is deliver. We were off Thursday so I delivered wood for a better part of the day. I had a helper loading and we got 9 cords out that day. Saturday and Sunday I was by myself and managed to get 7 and 5 out. Starting to see a dent in my inventory. One cord on the dump truck in one pick along with where one pile was and where another still sits.

It’s been a busy few weekends making deliveries and catching my sons football games. I got a chance to do some paperwork last night and tally up where I’m at so far this season. I dropped off 11 cords yesterday and thankfully had two new teens helping me load. Am up to 103 cords out the door so far with another 40 ordered. There’s still plenty in the field to head out so I’m going to stay busy for a while to come.

Been delivering wood all weekend, every weekend for two months now and still have a lot left to do. It’s nice that the money is rolling in but it’s wearing on me mentally. Between wood and my real job, I haven’t had a day off since the third week of August. At least I only have a 1 week waiting list on deliveries at the moment.

Yep, this time of year gets that way for sure. I've still got orders to fill & several tree jobs to get done. At least I still have inventory, that's way better than in years past. I really need more dry weather or snow & frozen ground.

A field that’s almost empty makes me happy. There’s more wood behind me though so I still have a ways to go

Always amazed what you get done jrider . Gives me some giddy up and go during the summer to read your updates. I think all of us on this site that sell firewood are pretty beat this time of year. It's also finally time to collect on all our hard work which definitely helps . I know there's alot of people on this site that don't necessarily post all the time but draw alot of inspiration from you and the other guys that move alot of wood on here. Thanks for your posts.

Wow, I don't quite know what to say other than thank you. I think its great belonging to this group of dedicated firewooders and as long as people are happy with what they get done, they should be proud of themselves. I enjoy seeing what/how others are doing no matter what level and continue to learn new things here.
