Running the splitter today. 85*F and humid so dripping in sweat. Feel some sweat on my ear open the ear muffs and brush it off. Happens again. Thought it was odd to have sweat inside the ear. So I took them off and inspected them. Found a potato bug in the foam. Guess I'm not storing the ear muffs on the splitter any more.
I have to say I keep my ear muffs in the garage and you never know what kind of critter might get in there. A potato bug is a first for me. Oh you can sweat under those ear muffs too.
Yep, after you find creepy crawleys in there a time or two ya learn to check em. Same thing with turning your boots upside down in the morning. Just a good habit to get into.
Glad it was just a tater bug...might have been different antics if it had been a yellow jacket or wasp... Muffs are too hot for me in the summer. I use ear plugs...
I keep my boots out in the garage. Didn't turn them over one morning and put it on with a mouse inside. Last time I ever forgot.
And I pull muffs off to dry sopping hair bteween round cuts. Had to learn not to hang muffs on chain brake and have rubber/foam against the muffler. Yuk yuk.
I use the ear plugs. (thanks T.Jeff Veal ) It was super humid here yesterday. Stacking in the shade and assembling a wood rack i was soaked. I actually hopped in the truck and turned on the AC. I wont miss it when gone. Maybe your new user name could be "Mr. Potato bug head" Stay cool Dave!
I'm hoping there aren't too many of these two and three t-shirt days left. Not that I'm in a hurry to be wearing long pants and long sleeved shirts, but less laundry would be nice. Less often laundry might be more accurate.
I have refills but i broke the actual headset. The tip where the refill slides onto broke off. I bought a new one. One of the dilemmas of having long hair is it sometimes gets stuck in things including hearing protection! especially when i take them off.
I had muffs sitting in the cupholder of the mower while mowing one day (should have had them on!) all of a sudden I smelled something burning...finally figured out a branch had swiped the muffs out and they were laying by the muffler...melting.
I keep a set of muffs & box of ear plugs in every truck, have burned up a couple sets of muffs, but ya learn after a while.
