It might be from the ridiculous amount of rain this year, but I noticed today the Rose of Sharon at the end of my driveway is turning.

Once all the foliage has dropped I’m cutting this invasive shrub down. In its place I want to plant an apple or maybe peach tree.

It gets dark about an hour and a half earlier now.

Poplars above the wood stacks are turning. Some persimmons are dropping too.
Yet it is 94 F at the moment. Too hot or too wet to be in the woods cutting.

Are you referring to the Rose of Sharon being invasive?

Snapped a pic of this guy or gal today knowing it might belong some where here.
What’s it saying about the winter?
Orange face, or butt, is a new one for me.

I think it's saying it's still warm enough to be out and about.

Yes. Maybe it’s not technically classified as such, but as far as I’m concerned it is. It comes from Asia and I’ve been battling the saplings this thing has produced all over my yard.

    Warner,
That first line you’ve written sounds like the start of a firewood hoarders rap song.

“59f. Sitting by the the campfire with a hoodie”.

I’m trying to come up with line two but my mind keeps going to rhyming words like booty, woodie, cootie... and I don’t want to get in trouble with admins.

Chilly at night and with the sun going down earlier it feels much later.

Went for a bike ride last evening and got back just right after the sunset was over. Everything was still bright and sky was all lit up with another beautiful sunset, but that feeling is in the air.

Night Hawks moving south last night a dusk.
We’ll look again tonight. Only seems to last a couple days.

I learned about Night Hawks one morning years ago when daylight was breaking while spring turkey hunting. It kept flying back and forth over the field in front of me and I had to do some research to figure out what it was.

i learned about them about 15 years ago while at a late soccer practice. The two are tied in my mind.
