Well, my wife quit school. She would have turned 18 in October (our original plan for marriage) but we married in June instead, so she was only 17 and I was 19. In October we would have been 18 and 20. Yes, we heard all the predictions of glom and doom along with the accusations of pregnancy. It mattered not at all to us as we had planned our future together. We had 58 1/2 years of the most wonderful marriage we could have asked for. And as for that pregnancy predicted, for years I told folks we were married on June 30 and our first child was born on July 2, and I was not lying. That it did not happen in the same year is what fooled them.

I agree that early marriage does not always work out but we knew ours was right. In addition, it was not so long ago that it was common for girls to marry at ages 12 to 14. It is not accepted today but used to be common.

    ?????? :picard:

Are you sure? 12 -14 years old and common practice to get married? How recent are you talking?

Average ages of marriages shows nothing unusual in a google search. This shows the pioneer days (old west) of USA; 1500's; also medieval times.

Charts and graphs on medians and averages aren't going to tell you much about ranges and tendencies.
Do your "google search" with a term such as : <child marriage>

Besides, I think B.S. meant more common, but I don't speak for him and will leave those semantics for another day.

Okay, I'll not be doing all sorts of searching on the Internet. Let's just say I've done much reading through the years. It is okay with me if you disagree.

Yeah, I'll go along with the more common approach. But that's a far cry from common.

No need to get your feathers ruffled Dennis. I've know and admired you far too long for that.

I too have read a lot as well as watched a lot of documentaries of recent history of our nation. "Recent" meaning the last three or so hundred years....mostly exploring, pioneering, and including the settling of the west.

I’m in the happy wife happy life camp. The shutters make no difference to me other than it’s more work for me so they can stay in the shed! Thanks folks.

It’s 10 am I’m on my 3rd shirt, and my pants are soaked to my undies. Concrete in an hour, I have a bad feeling about how it’s going to go…

Hi, it seems it went well, this school has elementary school aged kids in switching classes and classrooms like in Jr High/High School, so it seems it was more of a practice day. Also, she is finally in the same school as her best friend again, so that is automatically guarantees 50% good :) LOL. Today is first full day.
