Sometimes it pays to go to Wendy's

Went to Wendy's today for a double with cheese....and looking across the street I noticed a printing business that I had noticed the last time I was there....with the same stack of plastic pallets still there.

So I called 'em up and asked if I could have some of the pallets and they said I could take 'em all but I had to take 'em today because otherwise they were getting picked up to be thrown into a landfill.

Got me 23 of 'em, some with a slight crack here and there but overall very sturdy. The plan is to replace the wooden pallets of lower quality as I burn through a stack.

I also met up with a new (potential) wood chopping buddy and drove 8 of them over to his place.

    Great score LOTF!

Around here, those typically go for $10-$15 apiece

Good eye! I only have 6 in inventory (although I have more wood pallets than I'll use in 10 years). Hoarding plastic is important too!

Thanks! Yeah I looked on FBMP and see them from $5-$15 around these parts. Another example of helping each other out, although maybe this time around the business won't get a discount but in the future they won't have to pay to have it removed!

Thanks. Better than ending up in a landfill and not being used! The potential wood chopping buddy was like how did you even find out about this.....and I said when I drive I'm always looking around......the number reason is looking for people driving like idiots and avoiding them.....but also just to see what's going on in the neighborhood. Heh heh.

Yeah that’s an awesome score. Don’t see many plastic ones around here. But I don’t have my eye on a small pile, 5-6 I think. I asked about them when I spotted them so I think I have them secured. Planning to offer him a $20 for the whole stack

Thanks! Now I gotta figure out what to do with the wood pallets I replace. If the boards are broken then I'll just break 'em up, tie 'em up, and have the town pick it up. Or give to people to use as kindling.

The double with cheese was great. I got medium fries - don't be ridiculous with the large fries hahahahahahahahaha.

When I started getting into cars, all I saw were rims, tires, big brake kits, suspension mods, tints, etc.....

Now I see pallets and rounds and logs and downed trees hahahahaha.

I think Eric is referring to the "you $ück " award???

Moderator edit- Yep, I edited that cos we have folks that think the “award” is demeaning...

Thats very kind :handshake: but as of now, no. I have a few decent wood ones on hand and some reclaimed 2x8's that will become racks soon. I have access to nice ones close by and one of my suppliers has them too.

Nice score. I had some with larger patches of solid plastic on top and it was like walking on ice when they got wet. I had a 20' X 24' rectangle stacking platform so walking on them was inevitable. After a couple close calls I got smart and would bring a small of piece of old carpet with me to stand on when loading the wheel barrow.
