    Be quick so the squirrels don't get them all. But there are not many this year and I haven't cracked any open to see if there is meat inside. That usually pays because sometimes you can pick up lots only to find later there is nothing but shell.

    I have some shagbark and pignut in my backyard that are dropping nuts lately. I'm debating whether to grab the nuts now, or wait for the stragglers to come down later in the season once they're more mature. The tropical storm coming this weekend may make that decision for me though.

    There's a couple of hickory trees here. Not too many nuts from them. Well...not many that I see.

    Drought here is so bad a few weeks ago my buckeye dropped all its nuts before they were even close to done forming completely in a self preservation process to retain any water they had left.
