This would be worth looking at. It's 2 hours away from me, otherwise I might actually think about it. 1989 Ford F250 flatbed - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle...
5th wheel ball? Wouldn't a ball be for a goose neck? 5th wheels don't have use a ball. Maybe its just me but when someone uses wrong terminology I stay away.
If that was 2 hours away from me, I would be off to check it out. Those 6 cylinders were good engines & it appears to be in good shape. I’m not sure I would want to use use a gooseneck on it but to each their own.
Fords have always treated me well. Ive own(ed) three since 1988. If i took better care of them they wouldve lasted a longer, but i show no mercy and they come back for more. All 2WD too.
Maybe it was used by a trailer dealer to transport empty trailers around? I sure wouldn't want to get out on the highway with a loaded gooseneck trailer and the 300/6 under the hood! That price would be a bit strong in this area for that truck in 4x2...at least in years past, now, who knows, craziness out there...does look to be in nice shape though!
That looks like a great deal. Around here most of those trucks are thoroughly rotted. Floor pans gone, fenders full of holes, no rocker panels left or cab corners. The Ford 300 inline 6 motors are (almost) bulletproof. I had a 1981 F100 with that motor and at 300k it still ran beautifully.
3/4 ton with a gooseneck ball and a ...... 300 Ford? Say whaaa? 300's are tough, don't get me wrong, just no reason to be so mean to one.
Says it was a farm truck, so my guess is it was used to move equipment/feed/stuff around a farm. With the price of trucks right now, $3200 usually buys a vehicle that needs lots of work and may or may not run.
I've never owned one. But I have known a few people with them and I have a real fondness for them. My #1 priority in a rig is reliability.
Can't go wrong with a 300 6cyl. Black Betty has one and my former 91 Old Gray Mare did too. Pretty much bullet proof. Only downfall with that one is 2wd.
That 300 6 with a standard trans would probably get it done fine as long as you're not in a hurry. I've got 3 F250 4X4's and they get the job done nicely. In my world no 4X4 the truck's not for me. I'd buy that one just for the "cool" factor though.
The location speaks to the condition completely. PNW. It's beyond hard to believe the number of rust free straight old trucks out that way. Amazing what's sitting around out in the sticks as well out there.
