Summer heat and humidity come back today.

Everything went well yesterday, with my folks.

I'll go for a walk and deal with a few things in the yard.

Good morning everyone! We are fogged in this morning but the sun is supposed to burn it off. So instead of ocean views, the small stuff comes into focus.
I managed to kayak out here. It was farther than I expected, but the water was very calm.
We brought my MS180 out, so I will cut up as many downed spruce as I can. The house needs a supply of softwood firewood. My hostess bought a cord of hardwood firewood earlier this summer for $400 (!), delivered to the house on the mainland. My hostess and son managed to move it by boat to the bottom of the trail up to the house, where most of it still rests under a tarp. We had a 3-split fire in the fireplace last night, and it's wet, bubbling sap out the ends.
I won't be here long enough to split any spruce, but I can leave her with some rounds that someone else can work on ( maybe).

Morning All Rain again this morning.. We are up early. campinspecter is headed down island on a shopping trip. I am heading to the church to put together our children packages. Chores to be done before I go. Had a nice visit with Mom yesterday. Ferry was loaded so it was running 45 mins behind all day. We have been inundated with tourists as the rest of the province is dealing with fire alerts, smoke and evacuation notices.

Nice picture of you in the kayak Midwinter. That trip must be quite something if the weather is bad.

Good morning y'all. Hope y'all have a FABULOUS FRIDAY. Our trip Wednesday went well, our neighbor, Mike and his mom, Miz Jean, rode with us. Got to the place and dropped off the grapple about 11:30AM. Drove a few miles from there and found a great BBQ restaurant, time we ate and drove back, they had swapped the cylinder out. Loaded up and headed back home. We saw a new distillery in a small town, stopped in, had a tour, tried a sample or 3, bought a couple bottles to make fruitcake this Christmas.
Tried out the grapple Thursday. Didn't leak down, maybe that solved the problem
Well, I'm working 7AM-7PM this weekend, won't be hauling anymore wood, cloudy and rainy for the next couple days.

I have chaps... in my car back on the mainland. D'oh!
This is the only tree that I cut this trip, I'm driving home tomorrow. There's always next year...

 

Happy Friday! Just checking in before I check out of work in about an hour. Loose stacks are gone from the roadside stand. Need to get those filled in the morning. It's getting hot again so I'll pace myself on outside work. Have to mow the whole property tomorrow. Probably bag it because the grass has been growing fast. Have a God day!

Good Morning. My wife and I are getting ready to head into the BWCA for a canoe fishing trip, then some relaxation with some family at the cabin for a the remainder of the week. I will put up a picture or two when we get back.

Hot and muggy today.

The Pan Mass Challenge starts today. A huge fund raiser for cancer research via Dana Farber,

it runs from Sturbridge MA, to Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod - 211 miles. It's a 2-day event, with riders stopping overnight at Mass Maritine, just before crossing the Cape Cod Canal.

The course passes just up the street from us. The riders can be tracked via GPS. We have a friend that rides. We'll track her and walk up the street when she gets close to cheer her on.

Good morning everyone! High tide is at 10A, so my window to kayak back to the mainland is between 9 and 11. This island is called the Narrows, and there are narrow passages between it and some smaller islands. At low tide these passages between islands are muddy flats that you can't get through by kayak.
Right now it's foggy, with a breeze. It wouldn't be a huge tragedy if conditions dictated that I had to stay an extra day.
