Hopefully I can get another two face cord stacked by the end of next week, that would help clean up the back gully some. After I get the two face cord stacked, it will be time to pull some Birch stumps back where I was splitting today.

It looks like the temps will be on the rise again, hopefully the humidity and the dewpoint aren't that bad.

I hate working on firewood when it's warm, but I got the tree trunk that feel over from the storm last week in my neighbors yard.

Two yard carts full and a few decent rounds that will make probably 2 days of heat in a couple of winter's time after sitting in the shed for 2+ years. There were some uglies that are off to the side, but those might get used for campfires.

I'll split this probably by hand in a few days when the dew point goes down. Norway maple splits easily.
Yes, even with lower dew point and temps around 72° I still sweated it up pretty good.

I started cleaning up the gully today when I removed some Yellow Birch, maybe one White Birch and some Cherry rounds from a tree mother nature felled over the winter. Since some of the Cherry wasn't in great shape, I started stacking a face cord with it on the bottom and then the Yellow Birch and possibly a White Birch. The birch I felled in the spring thinking that more Ash would get felled which never happened, hopefully those Ash get felled this fall.

I don't think we hit 100 in the sun but I'm thinking it was over 90, I guess it's time I back the screw out of the White Pine some and get it back on the tree.

When I was loading up the trailer with the last load of Yellow Birch, I noticed this Maple that mother nature put down up the hill. I'll see what type of Maple it is before the end of August.

I'm not sure I can get the Rhino in that area, we'll see if it's worth the effort. 104_2083.JPG

Thanks Yoop, it should've been up way before August but I didn't work much when we had our hot weather so I behind. I'll get half a face cord stacked tomorrow and see what Saturday brings.

The smoke from either Canada or out west has moved in, send some winds.

We do have some winds. Yesterday and today although today's wind is from the south. That may not help you much....

We switched up plans this morning and took the boat out, the wind did pick up which helped out but the Bimini top made the trip a lot cooler since we didn't have a cloud in the sky.

Cloudy start that looked like rain has turned into a sunny hot day again.

I split and stacked some Cherry today with some Red Maple. Both the Cherry and the Red Maple came down when we received our last wet heavy snow. Parts of the Cherry still had ants in it when I split it so those will get stacked when the ants are gone, the stack will get finished off with what I think is some Norway Maple and some smaller Yellow Birch rounds.

By the end of next week we should have a total of 55 face cord up with room for another 12 face cord of hardwood. The next wood that I'll split and stack will be some Ash, Yellow Birch, Beech and some Maple.

I think it has been a good six years since we had 55 face cord of hardwood up, hopefully the fall felling will fill the empty stacks up.

I split and stacked some Ash and Yellow Birch today, I still have the back stack that I'll finish off along with the front stack for a total of 55 face cord of hardwood up. We have room for 10 more face cord and then our stacking area for hardwood will be full.

We still have some Ash and Yellow Birch rounds left in the gully that should finish off the front stack and enough Maple to finish off the back.

We have a gully washer going on with some lightning, we needed the rain but a soft rain all night would've been better.

Before it gets too hot tomorrow, I'll take a run up top and see if there is a way down to this Maple with the Rhino and the splitter, if there isn't, I'll have to clear some lanes down the hill so I can roll the rounds down after I buck it up.

We had another gully washer this morning so I'll stay off the trails today since they're very wet.

I have a new area that we had planned on opening up so we could plow snow deeper in the woods and not have a pile on the corner of the driveway, tomorrow will be a good day to start that. Most of the trees that will be taken down will never be a good tree or they're already dead.

I did get out later today and checked the oil in the Rhino (all was good) I cleaned out the back of the Rhino some and noticed a saw that needed the air compressor taken to it, that's done.

I took three small dead or dying trees down early today, I have one or two more Pine that will come down and this will be ready for some snow storage instead of at the corner of the driveway near the bigger Pine.

2107 is a before and 2111 and 2113 is after.

Hopefully the weather is good enough for most of the day tomorrow so I can finish some splitting and stacking.

The stacking in 2098 and 2104 will be the ones I finish.
