It’s a guess, but the end grain looks like pine to me and where some sap leaked after being cut. I cut a lot of Va Pine and when fresh cut, rounds are pretty heavy.

This could be right. The bark looks like hemlock.

Doesn't look like pine or hemlock to me. Even though it has pine pitch type of stain there's not quite enough of it.
Looks like some kind of poplar to me, though there's quite a variety of poplar to pick from.
Big tooth aspen smells a bit like kitty litter box.

The round with the red axe in the side of it looks like ash to me

Sure does. A couple look like ash. But the majority of the wood is something different. I don't see enough big hemlock to know for certain, but it could be. Definitely sappy, but you can get that from some poplar too. Poplar would be really heavy if cut somewhat recently. Then it dries out and gets much lighter.

I’m stumped. Looks like you’ve got 3 types of wood here. I’m reasonably sure I see at least one ash round, and the inside of these splits looks like it could be some kind of maple. As for the flaky bark stuff with the large growth rings, it does look like some sort of conifer to me. Maybe something weird like larch? No experience here with it.

The others look like white elm to me. We have hemlock around here but I’m not familiar with the bark
