I had some concerns about some of the brook crossings after we recieved a couple inches of rain the night before, but all was well. The views weren't great being locked in the clouds and approaching the summit was pretty gnarly for the last 2000 feet. We were prepared but pretty exposed in the 60mph sustained winds, temps were 34°F with pounding sleet and rain. Here are a few pics......
Great accomplishment but no thanks on the weather and the view. I will stick to taking the road up. Haha
Great pics. Gotta love having the mountains in our backyard. These are from a few years ago (hiking is not in the cards any more) from Mt. Jefferson (looking back towards Mt. Washington).
Congrats Brian! That's an accomplishment you will remember for the rest of your life. That weather at the summit definitely sounds nasty. I've got a bunch of pics on my screen saver at work, just so happens some pics of our hike of Jackson popped up yesterday. Is that Jewell?
Oh that looks steep and slippery. Too bad the view didn't reward a real accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.
Biggest disappointment of hiking Washington is all the joeys at the top! Poor weather might have mitigated that.
We took the amonoosuc ravine trail to the Crawford path (AT) and up. Was planning on Crawford path>>gulfside>>jewel down but took the cog
