And there was no washer behind the oil pump, yet another reason why it probably failed!

Are you talking about #18 in this diagram HERE?

    Crank bearings are definitely smoked

    #12 and #13 HERE?

Looks like this is going to be a lot more fun than I anticipated.

And I should then probably replace the seals too while I'm at it. #21 and #24 in the above photos.

Bearings are shot, yes. As expected with extensive oil system problems.

Yes to new seals. It’ll be a full case split and build for ya. Go OEM pto side bearing and either oem or Nachi 6202 C3 bearing for the flywheel side.

Budget a few hours of tear down. Budget a few more for building it back up.

There’s a tiny chance that the crank is spun but I doubt it. I’ve only seen two 1125 cranks that were spun (worn so a new bearing is an easy slip fit).

Most overlooked part of two stroke mechanics- the crank wiggle test.

Yep, that’s the one. It rides on the crank and protects the seal from the bushing.

Get an OEM gasket kit with seals. OEM bearing on pto side is available. My last one is in my shop freezer lol. I have one more case to build up this calendar year. After that, I’ll need to re-supply with parts. I average building two of these saws per year since 2015ish. All are total rebuilds like you’ll be facing.

But they’re a good saw worth rebuilding. These saws will still be being rebuilt when newer models are in the dump

I ordered the OEM Stihl gasket and seal kit ($30). Also ordered a set of oem Stihl bearings ($59). Also ordered an OEM Stihl worm gear ($17). Yay.

What site do you guys (BuckthornBonnie huskihl ) use to look up parts?

According to THIS site the part number for the sprocket side bearing is 9523 003 4266.

However, the eBay auction listed it as 9523 003 4278.

I'm also confused as to whether or not most parts are interchangeable between the 034 and the 034 Super. Other than a bigger piston and head what else is different? Probably a lot more than I think.......

I typically look at the ipl on one of the free sites and then cross reference the number with my dealer. They can bring up the diagram and confirm things with you.

I took off the muffler and checked the piston. Looks good to me. Also confirmed it is indeed a 034 Super after comparing my "jug" to the pics in this post on AS.

Rebuilding a Stihl 034, should I try it?

And I'm super stoked I have a workbench to work on. :dex:

Thanks. I'm not sure if I have an early version or not. But I have a side adjusting tensioner for the chain but I have the round style knob on the cover. That might be the reason for the part # discrepancy for the bearing?

034-034 super do share the majority of parts, yes. There have been variations throughout the entire 1125 series and even within models (older 034 vs. newer 034).
    Top of my head? umm…
    tank vents
    Muffler/spacer
    Piston/cylinder
Adjustable oiler (always for the super, I believe)

Bearing numbers have changed through the years. The measurements and lip for the oil pump area are the same.
