O and as for woods @Grizzly Adam go to homebrew talk forums and search for wood ( no not that type!) and you will find a lot of threads on the subject. I put oak chips in one of them and it turned out fantastic but that may not be the case for everything.
Yeah, oak is the default. I am curious about some of the other stuff I've gotten my hands on. Hickory for instance.
