I have been cutting and stacking logs in 4' lengths the largest stack is covered and the other isn't. The air is free to blow through and they're in the sun. After 2 years cracks are running the full length and no signs of rot.
My Stepdaughter has a Goofy Pooch too Willow Loves going for Rides in Grandpa’s Big Red Truck I got in All by Myself, so I get to Go, RIGHT?? I gots NO Modesty Doug
X2. Do you CS then season more or buck n burn in the round Screwloose ? What is the burning appliance...OWB?
I'm a ways away from doing anything with it. I still have a few more acres to clear that has a bunch of standing dead and the dead will get processed first. I'm stacking the living trees i cut in the 4' lengths as a way to preserve them until I eventually get to them.
Thats a good question Brad, I don't know what I'm doing!! I'm so far behind and breaking my leg ain't helping much. No matter what it's going to wind up seasoning more when split and stacked as I'm pretty far ahead. We just have our old faithful Nashua wood stove to keep us warm. This is definitely going to reduce the amount of splitting I'll end up doing.
Well you won’t have to worry about the mulberry rotting much and no worry at all about the locust rotting. That will outlast us.
She doesn’t get to go for many rides anymore, the Stepdaughter got her own place, the First of April, and I got a new Jeep Wrangler, a week before Christmas. The Ol’ F350 is a 94, and has over 250K on the odometer, it was my daily driver for many Years, but now that I am a pool driver, I am driving long distances for work and need something more reliable and practical, the Jeep is better suited to using for work, I already have 19K on it. Willow would Love to go to work with me, but as a pool driver, I don’t have an assigned truck, I am in different trucks all the time, often trucks that are assigned to someone else, so taking the dog with me is a No Go, literally, but when she does get to go wood cutting, she loves every minute of it, and comes home EXHAUSTED Doug
