It took me 5 years to get to it, but after this load is CSS I’ll be over the threshold for 3 years. The wood I’ll be burning this winter is 2 years dry, so next year I’ll be burning the real deal stuff. I get the wood delivered here by a local tree guy for free. I’m a bit at his mercy for what he’s got. Sometimes it’s really beautiful straight grain stuff. Other times it’s some funky stuff and big trunk pieces. But you won’t hear me complaining. The tools I use are 2 Stihl saws. 16 inch electric and a 20 inch M271. Split with a Fiskars x27, Collins 8 pound mail and 2 wedges- an Estwing and one of those cone wedges. Also use a 7 ton electric Boss splitter. Without going overboard, I can’t tell you guys how lucky I feel with all that I get and am able to do with it.
RGrant my hat is off to you. Congratulations and now starts the easy part; cut enough to replace what you burn.
Nicely done. Getting 3yrs ahead can be a struggle. Space alone can be a hinderence. Best of luck with staying there.
Took me the same to get 3 years stacked. If i could go back in time I would have just ordered like 10 cords already split to start.
Congrats! Your hard work will pay off. The only problem I have had when I got on the 3 year plan is that I feel a need to immediately replace what I have used.
Here’s where most of the wood hangs out. Goes 10 feet back from the front. And a rare appearance of myself and my daughter, just to prove I’m not actually a Staffordshire hah. (The dogs are off camera)
Congratulations on becoming a member of the 3+ club. It’s a long steep climb to get there but like Dennis mentioned, it’s (relatively) easy to maintain as long as you stay on top of it. That’s impressive you did it a little at a time over 5 years to reach your goal too. A lot of people would’ve either given up or settled for being one or two years ahead.

Ive met six FHC members from Connecticut in person. Only buzz-saw is from New Haven area. I know of two others from the area Skier76 & NBNH who i would like to meet someday as well as any other CT/out of state members.
I'll share your joy at making the 3 year plan. It can be quite a do, and as stated, it is easier now, to bring one years worth each year. If you get more, great. If not you're still good. One thing to watch for is changing what you'll need yearly, thus turning the 3 year plan into a 1.5 year plan. Don't ask me how I'd know that! Course getting 3 years situated might mean a few rounds to set aside to split over winter, getting a little of an edge on your 4th year.... Sca
