There was a real loud crack of thunder right around 3:00 that just about got me! Right out of a sleep (that seems so hard to come by, now-a-days)

Some heavy stuff moving through now but so far we've only had some thunder and lightning. They say it is serious just a short distance from us.

Southern Oregon is Stihl PRAYING for Rain, the Bootleg fire has slowed, and has “Only “ grown to a bit under 409,000 acres, and is at I Believe 46% containment, but now up to 61 homes, and 117 other structures Lost, 51 injured, but so far no reported Fatalities. Oregon has a 3 level Alert/Evacuation system, and people are taking it seriously, most are packed and ready before level 2, and many are already Leaving before a Level 3, GO NOW is ordered. There was some Stink last year, about some districts not communicating very well with each other, acting autonomously, that fortunately seems to have been resolved.

But Dayum, we sure could use some rain, the Fires aside, Farmers and Ranchers in Southern and Central Oregon, are losing Crops and Livestock, for lack of water. One of the biggest travesties is in the Klamath Basin, many of the reservoirs were built specifically FOR IRRIGATION, Upper and Lower Klamath Lake among them, and water is there in the lakes, but because of a $#%@ Sucker Fish, the Feds won’t let the Farmers and Ranchers draw from the lakes. At least they are allowing the Helicopters to dip, and the smaller aircraft to skim from the lakes to fight the fires. Another travesty is that up until last year we had the LARGEST Firefighting Aircraft in the World, right here on the West Coast available, but for reasons that they would not announce, the States of Oregon, Washington and the Forest Circus wouldn’t even sign contracts making the 747 Global Super Tanker Authorized for use.

The Global Super Tanker wasn’t Cheap to use, but on a cost per gallon dropped, it was THE CHEAPEST aircraft flying. The next largest aircraft available DC7’s and 737’s can carry about 6,000 gallons of water or retardant per flight, the Global Super Tanker could carry 19,200 gallons per flight, more than TRIPLE any other aircraft available. The effect of being able to drop that much at once is immeasurable, on fighting a fire.

Sadly, due to POLITICS, the most effective aerial firefighting aircraft has had its fire fighting equipment removed, sitting in a warehouse unused, while the aircraft itself is hauling freight, likely never to be returned to fire fighting again. To emphasize the Sheer Stupidity of the situation, there is a large fire fighting aircraft with about a quarter of the capacity in route to the US west Coast from AUSTRALIA, talk about Not being Cost Effective. Even Hollywood wouldn’t try to pass that story off.

Hopefully you guys get some much needed rain
That's just bull**** regarding the farmer and ranchers not allowing water to be pulled off because of some sucker fish, when the system was designed for that. Fed govt at its best. Hurting the livelihoods of citizens, again. Protecting there own kind!

I think it has more to do with sticking to the narrative. It’s a means to an end. Wherever reality doesn’t fit the storyline, it’s purposely bent until the pieces snap together.

The really Stupid part of it is that they are holding water in the lakes for the Sucker Fish, while the low water flow in the Klamath River coming out of the lakes, is causing warmer than desired water temperatures in the river, which is Bad for the Salmon that spawn in the Klamath River. They are harming a Valuable Sport Fish, in order to protect the Sucker fish, which are a trash fish. I wouldn’t want to see the sucker fish go extinct, but if the choice becomes offering more protection for one species over the other, protect the salmon, and Hope for the Best, for the Sucker Fish. Besides, I would place a Greater importance on protecting Livestock, than the Sucker Fish as well. It just seems to me that for what ever reason, they are choosing to protect the least valuable species at the peril of the other species, when allocating some water to different uses can help all the species, rather than an all or nothing philosophy for only one species.

More Snow, you have no idea, of the Sheer Stupidity of the ***citation removed*** Politics, of the West Coast. Oregon is a Beautiful State, there is no where else that I would rather live, but the politics of this state, have turned it into an Embarrassing Shadow, of what it once was

This morning was a first for me for the month of July. Woke up when I heard a strange noise and it took me a minute to figure out the backup propane heat had turned on. I keep the thermostats at 45 degrees and all the windows were open. Got up to check the outside temp and it was a crisp 42 degrees.

There have been years in which I have have used the wood stove in early June and late August, but this is the first time I recall ever considering using it in July. Definitely feels like early autumn here.
