You are right there clemson. Dexter you ask me a question a while back on what chains I run. I but the yellow tabs. What is th green and what is the difference? I can't cut the safety chains that come on them.:saw:

Green has the double raker design for low kick back. And there semi chisel cutters

Didnt understand what you asked but you can cut the second hump with a cutoff wheel but its a waste of time...just buy the yellow chain.

Keep the 391 and spend the extra 400 bills on a beater 460 somewhere down the road. 391 is going to capably make a lot of firewood.

I know where a Minty Stihl 046 is right now for $450 and a Minty MS 362 OE for $425.

Sound advice Lukem. $400 will buy a nice saw. There is a Stihl 044 elsewhere for just under $400. IIRC.

The 362 I just got back from Mastermind, would steal a stock 441's lunch money. Period. . . It's an animal.

I already have PM's regarding the 046. People want that saw. :)

I have an 18" Sugi on the 362.

The 18" bar on the 395 was just a joke. It was a large mount bar and I wanted to run the saw. I didn't have a 32" log, so an 18" bar worked.

I'm about to run the 362 now. May take a video. I also have a 1968 Poulan I am about to run. I picked it up for KilliansRedLeo. This thing Sounds MEAN!!! :saw:

Just remember that the 391 is going to feel like a rocketship compared to the old 250 in bigger wood. Unless you have the need for a 28" bar, a 441 is a luxury...not a must-have (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Stock for stock, there isn't going to be a lot of performance difference in a 362 vs. a 391. The 362 will handle better and be a little faster, but it isn't going to blow the doors off a 391 by any stretch of the imagination. My neighbor has a 390 and it runs pretty in < 20" hardwood...it was right there with my old 361 when we were bucking up a BIG oak limb that fell in his yard.

The 362 is a real good saw and I wouldn't be without mine, but it is honestly probably more saw than I need for the wood I cut...and I'm OK with that.

If you get the itch for more power somewhere down the line, get a 70cc saw. If you get the power itch again...send it off to have it ported by a reputable builder.

You did just fine getting a 391. No need to loose any sleep over it. Pull the rope and cut some wood. :saw:
