"Will I Live to see 80? Here's something to think about.
I recently picked a new primary care doctor. After two visits and exhaustive Lab tests, he said I was doing 'fairly well' for my age. A little concerned about that comment, I couldn't resist asking him, 'Do you think I'll live to be 80?' He asked, 'Do you smoke tobacco, or drink beer or wine?' 'Oh no, 'I replied. I'm not doing drugs, either!' Then he asked, 'Do you eat rib-eye steaks and barbecued ribs?’
'I said, 'Not much. My former doctor said that all red meat is very unhealthy!' 'Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf, sailing, hiking, or bicycling?' 'No, I don't,' I said. He asked, 'Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex?' 'No,' I said. He looked at me and said, 'Then, why do you even care?"

Dave Ramsey has a stat that he uses about living to see 80 once you make it to, 65 I think it is...I don't recall the exact number, but your odds of seeing 80 once you get to 65 are actually pretty good...was surprised to hear that.

Had a little birthday party for my wife’s mom yesterday. She turned 80. Her mother lived alone to 96, lost her husband back in the late 40s, never drove a car and worked well into her mid/late 80s.

I went to a 50th birthday party for a buddy last night, they had a roving mic for telling stories about him, his 98 YO grandpa was there and told a story that everybody else had forgot about...impressive.

Gave my neighbor a boat and engine today. He came to get it, he's like "I stole Garrett's truck, I got to get that back before he knows I got it"

Yup gram Lucy was all there, her mother is getting a little bit of dementia we think. We brought lobster scallops and oysters for supper. She had no idea how to cook a lobster and the town old home days weekend her and her husband did a lobster feed for 25 years for it. But I can say they drowned em in boiling and not steamed as should be.

One more dump trailer of hard wood today. It took 5 hours to split. There was more there than it looks.

I get most of my exercise today by pushing 80 as I will soon turn 79. Not sure if I can make it now though since I lost Judy. I always thought I would live to be very old but no longer seem to care. Live changes drastically once you lose the one you really lived for.

    I love this analogy:
You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?
    "Because someone bumped into me!!!"
    Wrong answer.
You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
*Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.*
Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.
*So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"*
When life gets tough, what spills over?
    Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?
Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?
Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.
Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others.
(Shared from a friend whose cup is full of goodness and inspiration.)
