Was thinking today I am more drenched than normal and it wasn’t even 8am. Here’s what it was like when I finished up early this afternoon…dew point of 78 is about as high as it gets around here. Don’t think I’ve seen 80 here and I don’t want to either.
Dew point can never be greater than the air temp. Highest dew point is usually just before sunrise, when dew on the ground is most typical, and it would have to be rather warm and foggy.
Yes I know. Last two mornings temp was 75 and dew point was 74….fun times. But I think you are confusing few point and humidity. Humidity is almost always highest first thin in the morning while the dew point stays around the same provided a new air mass doesn’t move in during the day.
Even with the tractor down, wood must get cut, moved, and split. Been working harder but still getting it done. Got all of the hickory cut, split, and stacked. Got all of the cherry cut and split (not pictured). Been cutting plenty of Goldilocks size oak and getting that split up. The oak pile at the tw6 is growing nicely as well. Last but not least, got about 2.5 cords of locust cut up this morning. Hornets made a nest inside one of the logs so I got stung three times this morning. Also encountered two small snakes under logs (I hate em all!). Yeah, I miss the tractor!
Wow, that's a lot done without the tractor......any idea how long it will be out of commission? That's some big stuff to move by hand.
Best case scenario, I will have it back in a few days. Most of the wood I’ve been cutting and moving hasn’t been too big. Not trying to destroy my back.
Makes you question why you even started to split in the first place. Ive had enough of this sticky weather and could go for a few dry days, but forecast had none in the near future.
The show must go on! And yeah I’m sick of the humidity…but notice it’s only 60%. It’s the dew point that really makes the difference
I look for the dewpoint temp all the time. I remember the local RV station weather guy always mentioning it 30+ years ago. Been between 73-75 last couple days. Highest ive ever seen it was 78. Any news on the tractor?
Good news for me is the wife and I leave for Jamaica tomorrow morning and won’t get back till next Saturday so I won’t have to worry about it while I’m gone. Putting in a long day today to make sure my helpers have enough wood to split while I’m gone. I’ve only had two days I haven’t cut or split in the last 5 weeks.
