Just curious to see how this invasive insect is around the rest of country? 20210710_150617.jpg

I saw and killed more today than all of last year.

I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s just a matter of time from what I’ve read about it. We have tree of heaven everywhere and lots of vineyards.

I read they don’t do well in the cold, which after this past winter you’d be tempted to think maybe the population might be in check. I guess unfortunately that’s not the case. I wonder if the core issue will ever be addressed or if it’s something we have to learn to accept. Complete destruction of our ecosystems is the price we have to pay for cheap Knick knacks from you know where.

I remember seeing millions of them in PA several years ago but did not see any this year when I was there. Nasty things.

I haven't seen one yet here in Adams county. Or at work in Mechanicsburg PA. Year or so ago I rode down to Winchester Ducati for an event and they were everywhere!

Stacking wood today and took a break under a black walnut tree branches. Had some clear liquid fall on/ around me.
I looked up and there are 1000s of lanterflies on this poor tree.

    SE Pa report:
Last year say them in many places.
This season very few. At my house none so far, I even have the sticky tape and chicken wire around a few trees. A mile or two away one elementary school had the sticky tape covered with them, they two months later none. A teacher there said it was as if they just died off, or migrated somewhere else (yet they are not known to travel very far).
