I used a soapstone kettle from hearthstone on my heritage that looked the same. Stone stoves don’t get very hot. Redline in the manual was 550 or so. It never boiled, didn’t help humidifying, eventually cracked. I say don’t bother. Now to go back to page one to look for the cat.
I use a trivet on both of my soapstones. The kettles boil and it works out well just make sure to add water from time to time.I sometimes use the trivets to make soups and stews during the winter.
Hearthstone offers a soapstone steamer, not huge but very pretty HearthStone Soapstone Steamer 90-99112
I've done it for years. Only issues are scratches when I’m not careful enough placing the pot, and hard water stains if the pot boils over, or you spill or slosh the water. I learned to fill my pot with soft water from a jug, rather than filling the pot directly. They all come off OK with a bit of steel wool. I can steam off a gallon of water a day, but doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. I had a humidifier added to the furnace last time I replaced it, but kept the pot for the ambience, I guess.
Go back and look at the first picture. Look at the bottom of the stove then look to the left of that but don't look for the whole cat. Look for legs and tail.
