My beagle just showed up with what appears to be a slice of frozen beef knuckle. Not sure where she got it, but she seems a little guilty. If it wasn't frozen I'd be a little worried she got into something she shouldn't have, but I'm guessing this was a purpose made dog treat.

That’s going to get super expensive and not very effective at below 0 weather.

    No worries :smoke:
    QUICK FACTS
    • Vermont consumes more than three times as much energy as it produces, but total energy consumption is the smallest of all the states, which contributes to Vermont having the lowest carbon dioxide emissions of any state.
    • Nearly 3 out of 5 Vermont households heat their homes with petroleum, 1 out of 5 use natural gas, and almost 1 out of 6 burn wood for heat. More than one-third of Vermont schoolchildren attend facilities heated by wood products.
    • In 2019, Vermont generated 99.9% of its electricity from renewable resources, a larger share than in any other state. About 55% of Vermont's in-state generation came from conventional hydroelectric power.
    • In 2019, Vermont’s five wind farms accounted for about 18% of the state’s utility-scale electricity net generation, a larger share than in almost four-fifths of the states.
    • By 2050, Vermont plans to obtain 90% of all its energy from renewable sources and to reduce overall energy use by more than one-third, according to their Renewable Energy Standard.

I've found that as I age, that I get up earlier. So you get up earlier, and can stay up not as late, that's a recipe for early bedtime as you age.

It is a sweaty mess out there this evening. Got chased out of the shop early by the sweat running in my eyes. Wasn't really doing much and I don't usually sweat that bad, but when the dew point is 78 you don't have to.

Got material for four 13x27.5 doors milled on the table saw. Need to get a couple more coats of poly on the panels then I can start to assemble.

After the cabinet is done then it's time to make some mirror frames so I can get glass cut for them soon.

List is long, but getter shorter.

    Started a few projects.

Welding up a carry all for the tractor.
    IMG_20210704_194835898.jpg
Which requires the welding electric power to be upgraded. The 120v mig will tack weld thick steel but I need 240v to get good penetration. New 50 amp 2 pole breaker and salvaged 14ft of 6-2 oven cord with a new 6-50 outlet.

Started cutting up this dead oak scrounge. 32 inch bar doesn't quite cut clear through. And my 32 bar is j hooking bad so I used a 24" on the 066. It's hot enough my saw does not want to restart. I have to let it cool after refueling.

Well, you are correct there. For some reason I thought they had planned to shut down and not renew the license back in the mid-teens. This is interesting because the power company always uses propane/NG prices as the excuse for prices going up sharply. I think I also got confused because states sources will start discussing NH electricity use then switch it to New England's electrical use (Today, New Hampshire has seen an increase in natural gas. Natural gas produced nearly 42% of all electricity consumed in New England in 2016.)

Thanks for calling me out and making me research back into what I thought I knew versus reality

OK, natural gas makes more sense than propane. We have Winter rates due to the natural gas seasonal pricing.Winter rates run from Jan 01 to June 01. I'd have to go check my bills or go online and find an Eversource rate change notice (I always toss them in the recycle bin) but our Winter rate right now is $0.11795. I think the difference Summer/Winter is a penny or so. Eversource has to submit a rate change request/plan to either the state legislature or a commission every year. ( Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities - looked it up)
Natural gas for heat/cooking goes up quite a bit for the Winter rate. Proponents never quote the Winter rate when arguing for natural gas.

Eversource in Ma has similar bill with slight labeling changes

With that flat rate seven dollar customer charge and my low kwh use my effective rate is 29.669¢ per kwh.
I can remember when delivery charges were quite a bit less than supply (generation) charges. In Ma we can buy our electricity from different sources. I could have bought (and probably still can) a group rate through a Town /regional entity, but at the time they were doing opt-out with the program and I really despize opt-out so I declined. About a penny less per kwh. You can also buy "Green Power" for like 30¢ per kwh and I'm sure there are some woke buyers here in Ma that sleep real good and smug at night.

It always cracks me up when I see someone arguing for electric power being "cheapest" and they are using the Summer rate generation charge for their argument basis. Um, no one can buy electricity here for $0.10XXX per kwh. You have to pay a delivery charge and a customer charge. For heating with electricity you might get a heat rate but you still have to pay that customer and delivery charges. Around here most homes heated with electricity are apartments and maybe a condo here and there. Houses are rare.

    Edit:
Just noticed you have propane DHW. My sister did too and after years of me trying to convince her there were less expensive alternatives, especially while oil prices were down, she had to replace her heating boiler and the HVAC guy convinced her to change it at the same time as well. Her propane company wanted an arm and a leg to drain the propane tank and then an arm and a leg to remove the tank, so it sits there mostly full. She had just DHW, not a stove too so a swap out was easy plumbing-wise.

Thunderstorm and rain last night. Another half inch. So with the 2.5 inches from the Independence day weekend that puts us at 3 inches in 4 or 5 days. That should make the weeds happy.

Got my cabinet doors assembled and first coat of finish on them this AM. Not sure what I'm going to work on this evening....probably nothing. Have some other stuff going on and I feel like getting to bed before midnight tonight.

If I were to live there, I woudn't dare to step outside during an ocean storm. I would think they get a thrashing every time a storm moves through.
