Have you tried Capsicum spray or powder spread around... I know kitty cats don’t like the hot peppers. Not sure about rats...

I, personally, would not use poison.

    That racoon-proof container is awesome.

We don't put much food waste in the trash...same reasons as you, but also because we don't care for the oven roasted smell on hot summer days.

All food waste goes in the compost (including bones, meat, fat), stinky stuff is rinsed....or I can take one or two small items to werk. We also try to buy stuff without extra wrappings.

Here the passed law no food scraps in garbage; as it takes up 35% of waste. The solution for meat and bones is a 1.5 yard buried container with clear plastic lid to cause higher heat. Tenant “ain’t now way that will fit a deer carcass”

they are forgetting that rotting food scraps causes chemical reaction that breaks down other materials.

Get it picked up nightly, same with schools, big $$ for trucking.. Then certain farms are composting it and sell it back to you as recycled dirt!

sister’s butcher shop; at farm, it get put in a bone pile and covered, what’s not sold for other purposes.

Ya know, our good ol’ friend wildwest talks about the occasional difficulty of deciphering “womanspeak”..... but “CBVTspeak” is a language all its own.

It’s good :emb: My sister as many know owns a slaughter house on a farm in northern VT. Auto correct and big fingers on a cell phone! Yes Eric it’s an Apple 10 red so train me:p

Don’t blame me you southerners can’t speak northern!

So, if you slaughter a bovine, you sell meat .. duh
Then you sell the hide for leather...
Then hip joints with beef and ligaments on them are a specialty for some dog owners. Furthermore, tails for some kind of soup.

whatever is not sold is scrap... so it goes into a pile and covered with cow manure and other stuff.

a portion is sold to pet food companies etc.

I have learned most don’t want to know they just want a steak!!

I know our good friend Eric VW :handshake: should have a side gig; as an English composition major!!

Myself , I’m just a city kid that bought land; tractor and a chain saw and am working on faking it til I make it:cool:

No, I bought a great saw from Eric VW He is a great guy and I need to :handshake: his hand and yours!!

One of his strengths is English/Grammar.

It is one of my weaknesses; the really sad part is 90% of the time I put forth a concerted effort to be clear.:jaw:

The great part of FHC is while we are completely different. One day we will all :campfire:with :drunk:and :coldone: and  :rofl:

I will also thank him for trying to help me too improve my weaknesses..

Then show him a masters degree from an Ivy League school and go :p

    Cause that’s

I earned good grades in high school. I earned great grades in college with my husband typing my papers for me. YES, type writer, no home computers back then. We both worked full time for all the years it took me to finish college and English/Grammar & fast typing are some of his strengths, but not one of mine. I'm envious of Eric and his vocabulary as well!
