Ever loose tools? Or "misplaced'' them? I have a pretty good set of tools, 99% of them old craftsman tools, even still have a wrench i've ''customized'' its a very old power craft wrench, had it since i was 15, when i bought my first set of real tools. I'm not a mechanic, but, just feel a good set of tools is a worth while investment. So, when i ''misplaced'' my set of short 3/8th sockets, oh boy! And, when i do that, it tends to bother me. Yesterday while moving some ''things'' i FOUND my short set of 3/8th sockets!! Right where i'd put them the last time i used them, on top of a bucket with a lid on the bucket, under my car, its a car i don't drive much, and it sits more than it should. So, getting it ready to drive again, i pulled some things out from under the bumper, TA DA, there sat my set of sockets. One thing i did know, i'd put them some place safe, lol. So, now they are back with the ''family'' of other sockets, in my roll a way tool box, its good to have them back!! I always thought i had them, but, i just didn't know where they were, lol.

I have a "habit" of being in the process of putting something away, getting sidetracked on the way, putting <whatever> down or in a safe place - to come back to later to finish putting away - and of course don't always get back . So it's not where I used it last, it's where I got sidetracked, which is tough on memory.
I got into a habit of using an orange bucket to put any tools (that fit in it ) I'm using so at least an orange bucket is fairly easy to find, but I've used the buckets for planting veggies in.
3 garages , two cellars and one garden shed with places for tools doesn't help.

The exact location of approximatly half of my tools at any given moment is classified...and I apparently don't have high enough clearance to be briefed on the matter... occasionally I'll stumble upon/ambush some...and then after a brief rendezvous, they are in the wind again...:picard:

Wow, I figured most of yall were very together and "straight" when it came to tools and organization etc. Don't ask me why I thought that..just did. Boy do I feel better. Like billb3, I use and start to put back and get sidetracked. Or like brenndatomu, I put them in evidently a very safe and secure highly classified location for safe keeping.....

I have a $450 3 month supply of Rx eyedrops, I only have 4 days left for interrogating myself on the secret place I put them til I open the next month. I remember thinking "perfect, cool & doesn't get hot here, no direct sun".

At least you have a list of narrowed down places. Usually mine is just "safe place" or "I'll remember that I put this here"....yyyeeaahhhh..we all know how that goes..... Good luck with your interrogation. Maybe hypnosis will help you remember haha.

My dad used to be fond of saying “it’s probably the last place you left it.”
He was very stringent concerning my brother and I returning his tools from where we got them... somehow I didn’t inherit that gene, despite growing up hearing him say “put it back where you found it” my entire young life.

Also these days... my wife has a habit of seeing a flat surface and thinks of it as a shelf. From tools to paperwork, sweating pop can or used up paper towel... let’s put it on the first open, flat thing! :hair:
    :picard:

Thankfully it only took one time for me to notice her set a sweating can of beverage on the restored Victrola (been in my family ~100 years)-
that about got her the ol’ :heidi:

I have held on to my grandpa’s initialed pliers since 92, but I can’t keep a 10mm wrench or socket for nothing. It’s always the first to disappear from a set.

I am currently missing my 90s vintage Craftsman 1/2" drive SAE impact socket set. I had it this spring and can't think of where I left it.
