AWESOME!!!!! I already bought a 100#'r that TSC had on sale for $89.00 this past winter. :) That way when it runs out, I'll throw it in the truck and refill vs. have a truck come out.$$$$$ If they put them on sale again, I'll have a standby.

For the short term, yes. But extended outtages can get spendy. I'm not thrilled about having a generator buzzing away attracting attention, particularly after a few days or a week, and when others are running out of fuel or are otherwise becoming desperate.

Yes they are, but then I use wood stove for cooking and heat, and Lanterns/candles for evening light. Don't need much. I made a many stews, soups and breakfasts on my wood stove:flipeggs::stirpot: Have a percolator 12 cup coffee pot works like a dream! :coffee:

Since we are near the end of the electric line branch, we have had a few outages here that have lasted 3-6 days. I have also thought about a small block bunker with some sound deadening material inside for our generator to attenuate the sound. I'm not pleased that where it sets now is a natural ampitheater to echo it's sound down the valley. I have a 9kVA portable that runs most everything in the house, just not all at once.

As far as stoves, NG is not available here. The induction electric is pretty fast heat and very efficient. It is much like gas as far as quick and controlable, it just isn't directly visible like gas. I do like a gas range top but have been very happy with the induction stove and not having to deal with propane. I never cared for gas ovens though. I always have preffered an electric oven over gas, same with clothes dryers.

Up in New Hampshire where my land is at, No gas up there either, too many rocks and very large granite boulders under ground. I'll do the LPG stove/range.
I agree with the clothes dryer! Only problem with that seems to be the meter wants to spin off the house when it's on! o_O:loco:

I'm considering one of the new condensing heat pump dryers. WAY more efficient. Only thing leaving the house is water down a drain...
