Have been to the brewery.

Sat and had a couple while we were there.
Food trucks and a farmers market also that day.
When you are done you can go take a visit to the Cape Cod potato chip factory that's a stones throw away.
Wife loves the bleach blonde , every time we come back we grab a 4 pack of pints for her to enjoy.

 

The growler gets refilled at the brewery. Decent place!

Yup - the chip factory is nearby.

 

Will be stopping on Thursday to fill some growlers.
Till then, hitting the bike trails.
Yesterday was Northern side of canal, today, Harwich rotary to chatam segment.

 

There's also a rail trail through Brewster, Orleans, and maybe Wellfleet.

Cool pics. Brought back memories of the one and only time I've been to the Cape about 5 years ago. Stayed at a bed and breakfast in Brewster, and hung around Hyannis one of those days. I do believe the best scallops I've had to date were from Spanky's Clam Shack....I still daydream about some of those meals on that trip.

 

My first time to the Cape amazed me at how much it looked just like the Pine Barrens of south Jersey, complete with lots and lots of cranberry bogs.

 

Spanky's is on our list most anytime we're in Hyannis.

 

A part two? Who knew?

We had a 4th of July cookout to attend, but it got pushed to tomorrow. So, we went to the coast.

Looks like another nice trip. In all the years living in MA, I have never been to the Cape. It looks like lots to see and do there.

I was going to ask you what was hauled on the rail line, but I zoomed in on the bridge info sign and found out.

This is one of my favorite books to read in the fall and into winter. Lots of anecdotes from the author and it gives a good picture of cape life before it became a big tourist attraction. Printed in 1935.

 

I'll have to check that out. I have fond memories of the Cape from 45-50 years ago when almost no one was there in the Winter, up to the good times of Grandma's and Grandpa's at the Bourne rotary in the eighties.

 

The author writes his stories from memories when he was a young boy. Horse and buggy, schooners type of stories. Turn of the century 1900's and maybe a little earlier. And yes, he does write about preparing for winter, putting up wood and bad weather.

Growing up we had a small cottage in Hyannis and every winter Dad would take a trip up during the winter to check on it , it was winterized so we would always stay in a motel for one night as a treat for my sister and myself.
I do remember that most hotels were closed and very few choices where to stay back then , always stayed at one of the few that had an indoor pool and as a young kid that was the best thing in the world.

It certainly has changed a LOT over the past 50 years I have been going there.

Was there as a young teenager with Mom/Dad, fond memories. I'd like to take the family there sometime. Was in Newport RI few weeks back was able to see Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket way off in the distance, didn't realize just how close we really were.

 

Cuttyhunk and Gay Head. Nantucket is over the horizon.
