Yep, up near Seattle myself. Haven't seen temps like this since 2009 and even then it didn't get this hot for this long. Sure is drying my stacks out quick though. I like that.

Not sure if we're seeing record heat, but this much of it and this early (we're in our second heatwave already) .....might breakdown and get an ac for sleeping purposes. Been hitched 20+years....never had or used an ac.

    Nor heating blankets...

I too broke down many years ago when sleeping in the hot sticky nights became a problem. But then it was just a few nights per summer. Over the last several years, with last summer being one of the worst, it sometimes becomes a long term cooling affair and I don't like it.

    I wouldn't like it either.
I'd imagine we'd do the same....for a few nights we agree we need it, but that can grow easily. OTOH (On the other hand) I bet we'll agree on what temp/humidity ratio is uncomfortable, and agree to use the fan till that point.

Taking a cold shower right before bed cools me off enough to get to sleep, and till the temps drop later at night. Some nights anyway.

Even our Freezing Level set a New High of 18,000’

A third day of Record High Temps predicted for today, then a gradual cooling trend to more normal temperatures by the weekend

With the 4th of July Holiday coming up, Hopefully people will be Extra Careful with Fireworks, with the High Temps and Low Humidity we have been seeing, the Forests are ready to explode. I would sure Hate to see another fire like the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire, that one burned over 50,000 acres, many homes, and only by the Grace of God, there were no Fatalities. Interstate 84 was closed for more than 5 weeks, and the economic devastation was incalculable, especially for small Columbia Gorge towns like Cascade Locks. That Fire was started by a 15 year old boy tossing a single smoke bomb into a forested area that hadn’t seen Rain in over 2 months.

Central Oregon hit 103 today. Hottest I've ever seen in June. I'm with Husky Man in praying that the wildfires don't go crazy like last year. I visited the Detroit/Gates area in December and was mortified at the damage that fire caused. They were going full steam on the salvage logging along hwy 22 which is good. Just dad's to see Detroit in ruins, it used to be a gorgeous little town/lake destination.

My day was chaos, I was originally going back to Medford for another week, I was actually on my way, about 20 miles from the house, when the boss Lady called, “ Where are you??”, I’m not liking the sound of this, “I’m in Sandy “ I tell her, “ Oh Good “ she says in relief. Change in plans, that client doesn’t need me until Wednesday night. Then it was going to be Yard duty tomorrow at my old account, “Great, I haven’t seen Sean, in over a year “ , 20 minutes later, the phone is ringing Again, Uhm, another change in plans, can you head up to Seattle? We need you to cover a Lennox HVAC supply run.

I spent over an hour calling hotels near the customer, working out from there, the only place with a room available (RIGHT NOW) is $172/night (NOT a National Chain) and they won’t reserve a room over the phone with a Credit Card (Seriously, in 2021?????)

I call the Boss Lady back, she goes online, and starts playing Digital Whack a Mole, with me on the phone, every time she finds a hotel on line with a room, it books up before SHE can get it Reserved. She was down to Centralia/Chehalis, out to Port Orchards, North of Seattle ( the customer is actually in Fife, Between Tacoma and Federal Way, WELL South of Seattle) every one was the same thing, before she could book it herself, it would change to No Rooms Available.

So, I am still Home, looks like I am Off Tomorrow, but leaving for Medford Wednesday morning

The Joys of Being a pool driver, .

Portland broke even the forecast high of 114, with a new All Time High of 115, I heard that Seattle hit 112, that was why all the hotels were booked solid, in Seattle only about 45% of the homes have AC, it just isn’t needed very often, there is an exception to every rule, and the weather this week proved that true

    115 degrees, Wow!!

One does have to wonder if it would be better to install even a small air conditioner rather than renting motel rooms even occasionally.

It wasn’t just an isolated area, the whole I-5 corridor, from Eugene, OR North to beyond Seattle, WA set All Time High Record Temps

    AAE32EAF-AD96-4906-939A-17EDF237226D.jpeg

Pendleton, OR, isn’t on the 5, and is typically Warmer than the 5 corridor, but the 119 they got was I believe a record as well, with a possible 120 forecast for today

Did anyone else hear the gal from Seattle complaining the police stations weren't open to the public to allow them to escape the heat? I wonder why:whistle::whistle:

I went through Detroit, across 22, in mid May, and I was just Awestruck at the DEVASTATION. I believe that Fire burned 190,000 Acres. It was a Very Sad sight, that was such a Beautiful area, and so many people lost EVERYTHING they had

I was working in Medford during the Fires, and a lot since. The Almeda Fire literally started in the Field and Orchard behind the hotel we stay at in Ashland. The Devastation there was more checker board, burned areas surrounded by areas untouched. It is STRONGLY BELIEVED that many/most of the fires in that area were Deliberately set, too many disconnected fires in the area, with no apparent ignition source. There have been some arrests, but many of the fires are still of “Undetermined Causes”

I was there for the weeks before and after Labor Day, so we took one of our boats to spend the Holiday weekend on Lake Shasta, I was working, and the Wife was in Medford shopping when the fire started, and our boat was trapped at the hotel.

I don’t normally get overly sentimental about vehicles, but “Plum Crazy “ is my exception to that rule. We drove from Portland to Gardena, CA 2 weeks before my 3rd Birthday, and picked her up at the Factory new, in 1968. My Mom was the original owner, and had just handed her down to me on Father’s Day. I was seriously stressed, watching the news reports on the fire, not knowing the fate of our boat. It was about 11:00 pm, when they finally allowed traffic into the area around the hotel, yeah, I was Speeding more than a little, the power was out, and the Burger King across the street was completely burned to the ground, the fire dept was staged in the hotel parking lot, I was full of Dread not being able to see the boat. When they let us through, I was completely surprised to see the boat literally untouched, we only found a Very Small ember burn in the mooring cover, the hotel’s irrigation system was fortunately running when the fire started, and all that the hotel suffered, was a slightly deformed door in the back of the hotel, we still stay there now.

We met a lot of Fire Victims, that had lost everything in the fires, and I did feel a bit guilty about worrying about our boat when so many others had lost so much, including homes and pets. I don’t recall a number, but fortunately there were very few Deaths. Many of the fire victims stayed at the same hotel as we do, until just recently, We were there enough that we got to know and become Friends with some, the stories were truly Heartbreaking, and made us appreciate what we have.

Forecast was for 89ºF and it's already 94ºF at 11:30AM
Dragged the window AC out of the basement and popped it in the window.
    Beast is heavy.
    Might need it this year.
I'd rather get by with the fan in the window by the bed but sometimes that's not enough.

We hit a high of 66 degrees today at mi casa. Supposed to hit a high of 64 tomorrow:whistle:

In all seriousness though. Sorry you guys are all roasting right now. The kind of heat you are all describing would probably put me under.

    Hang in there!
