I jumped in my truck and zipped down the mountain to Denver to try to get this Hackberry and Ash yesterday. They were both gone by the time I got there. I get literal tons of good wood up in the mountains for free, but all the hardwood is in the Denver metro area. It's always a roll of the dice trying to go get it before someone else does. Once in a while it pays off. The Ash was listed on Craigslist. The Hackberry pic was taken by a friend who alerted me of the free wood. Ahhh, the life of a hoarder
Never fun when you lose a score. Just have to keep trying. Looked liked some decent wood. What percentage of you inventory is hardwood CL?
I've currently got about 6 cords of split and stacked wood on my property. I've got another 4 or 5 cords of rounds that I need to process. I'd say 40 percent of it is hardwood from the city.
"A day late and a dollar short." Apply to many chapters of my life. At least you still live in the mountains and the snow has finally melted.
I got on craigslist last night and looked around for some free wood. Was surprised to find quite a bit of it, but, its too far north of me, and not worth the drive. One guy had about 2 cords down, blocked up and ready for some one to take, but, its 2.5 hrs south of me, and with the weather here lately, a guy could hurt himself getting it. It was 105 here in the PNW and very hot winds out of the North West. Not good. Good way/time to get heat stroke.
Brad, Normally only a couple of miles, but, this PAST year, with all the fires we had locally, they have cut the wood cutting off, and you have to buy a dump truck load, no more, going to a landing and cutting firewood, at this time. We've had some super hot days this year, yesterday and the day before, were in the 113 degree, plus range.
