I hate asking but search after search online has me coming up empty. Does anyone recognize this small tree/shrub/bush? I thought it might be Autumn Olive, but no flowers/fruit. I thought it might be cherry but again... I even had the wild idea this could be a Chinese Chestnut that was felled and stump sprouted but I see no catkins. Any ideas? Thanks.

You could be right. I never heard of that one before. As the summer drags on I’ll keep a look out for red berries. Thanks. :salute:

Definitely not Autumn Olive, leaves way to big.
Will be curious what it turns out to be though.
    The bark is remarkable!
