Baby of the family getting in some trimming at the lumber yard. I don’t usually run the stock B&C, but I decided to mix things up a bit.
CHUD? How the heck? Those noodles? I've had factory new chains that don't make chips like that. Envy... and respect.
Thanks, they were some thick noodles. I’ve been hand filing 25yrs. I had a mentor that’s been doing it for 40+ and I studied a little book Oregon put out decades ago on sharpening. I always use the progressive depth gauges on rakers and try to find the sweet spot between too much and not enough. The mentor would say “you’ve got to do more than just polish the teeth.” The middle of those rounds were kind of soft too.
Aint it great? I went from an MS290 56cc and got a 460and it was like HOLY CHIT! Great for cuttin big wood (insert Tim Allen grunt here) Congrats!
Nice! Once you get used to using a top handle youll wonder how you ever cut without one. Very handy little saw!
Holy Husqvarna Batman! Hopefully Sandhillbilly doesnt see that or he wont be able to sleep tonight! You buying the 400 Chud?
I didn’t have new or used saw $. I held the 400 several times to get a feel for it. Didn’t feel as light as I had imagined, but the balance felt good with a 20” light bar. I should have asked to cut with it, since it had already been in wood. It’s hard to stay focused when I’m around that many saws. If the 288 is still there next time I may get it, since it’s an all original runner.
Chud how’d the 400 feel compared to your 261? I’m on the fence between the 2. I’m leaning toward the 400, but don’t want it to be to heavy to trim/limb with.
Is that the same place that you have teased me/ us from before? There’s no way I could get out of there empty handed! Empty wallet? Yeah absolutely empty wallet, maybe even a couple maxed out credit cards
I’m sure it would be a fine limbing saw. It’s personal preference. If I can do the job with a 201, I’ll choose the lighter saw.
It’s a cash only place, so your cards would be safe. Yes, it’s the same Stihl and Husqvarna honey hole I keep going back to.
For lighter duty like limbing and trim work, I'd take the 261. They are great little saws for that, plus they hold their own for bucking too. I get into trees with a lot of canopy limbs and I love a snappy 50cc. I'm also not liking to run the heavier saws for light work, especially the older I get. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk
X2. I just have multiple saws with me. I love my 201's. Go with a 261 Dakota Hoarder. It can do some serious bucking too.
