Be nice, he'll probably end up as your local Gulag commandant, so you may want to stay on his good side. With any luck he'll have you peeling potatoes and not out barefoot in the quarry breaking rocks with a pickaxe.

Nah this kid seemed a little light in the loafers. The only thing he’s carrying for enforcement might be the rubber bands from his man bun. Pretty scrawny dude.

Hey if you saw this kid you’d agree. This is rural Maine and we don’t have that chit here. I can only hope Mary put that umbrella down and didn’t sing that supercalafragalistic song.

I often wonder why I'm so suspicious of the scientific "consensus". I dunno. There was a consensus during the Salem witch trials that ordinary town folk were practicing witchcraft and needed to be burned at the stake. There was a consensus in the Third Reich that the Semitic community in Europe and abroad were the scourge of the planet and needed to be purged from existence. There was a consensus in the 1950s that high ranking officials in the US were secretly communists and working to undermine American Democracy (is it true today?). From time to time I listen to NPR to hear what the machine is churning out. Last year I was listening in on the topic of climate change, and of course the topic of elections came up. So the interviewer asked this scientist what would happen if so and so got re-elected. His response was something along the lines that in a million years from now, anyone looking back on the fossil record would be able to tell we were living in the "Tr@mpian Epoch" He was serious!!!! How can you be that wildly disconnected from reality? You can't tell me with any shred of merit that the outcome of an election in a country that holds 4.25% of the world's population will leave a permanent record in stone/ice cores/whatever that future intelligence will be able to pinpoint and decipher. The lack of perspective is absolutely mind-boggling.

My favorite go-to, when it comes to climate change politics...

    The Sun

    Lesson for today:

    1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

    2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.

    3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

    4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

    5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I dont think most of us here are mainstream. I personally spend most daylight hours outside unless its raining. As I believe most of the people on this forum. That bring said we raise our kids differently

I had to post this (after) your quote...  Our local Walgreens has a woman, and she's not a kid, maybe late 30's early 40's has Green hair, her tongue cut/split like a snake, and has a tattoo that say's " USS Enterprise NCC-1701" on her forearm, a nose piercing with a bull ring through it and a piercing through her cheek! :jaw:o_O:eek: She's also the same lady handing out prescriptions at the counter :picard: I've been dying to ask her what planet she came from! :p

At the moment Stinny , I’m just leaving for the day. I can’t even see the sun through the gray and slightly dripping sky. I really wish I could though because the garden we planted kinda needs that big orange ball for some reason so it grows.

You could look at your wood stove (or any heat source you have) as the sun and your house as the atmosphere and Earth. If you had insulation to your house (the atmosphere) but the heat source pumped out the same amount of heat, what would happen to the temperature of your house? Just another way of looking at things...
