I've been on this planet for more than a few years and have seen my share of strange weather but it just seems to me it keeps getting stranger. I think back 2 years ago when so many acres and acres of land did not get farmed because it was so wet. for example, the road we have to come in on to our place has 5 farms and with the exception of one field, nothing was planted that year. The field that got planted was a total waste of money and time as nothing got harvested as it just didn't grow.

This year I have also witnessed a strange thing with farming as most of the crops were planted by May 10. Many years we couldn't even get started by that time and some were still planting on July 4. This is amazing.

Then there is the temperature swings. We've had so many hot spells followed by cold spells. Our peaches were in full blossom and the temperature dropped into the low 20's. During our GTG this spring, one night dropped to 27 degrees but the following night was in the 60's! On Sunday when everyone was heading home it got to 86!

Now we are forecast to have 3 days in the 90's. It is way too early for this. What will the rest of this year be like? Who knows.

I’ve noticed here that the wind has been awful for the past year of maybe longer. We have winds here that sound like freight train and it lasts all day.

The weather patterns are different from when we moved here in 2003. We could count on one week of hot weather in the summer when we needed a/c, we have two weeks or more where we need the a/c lately.

The winters are still cold but we didn't get the -20 or -30 temps last year, we also get less snow in the winter and rain in the spring. This past winter we didn't get any rain after it snowed so the white stuffed stayed and made for a great year on the trails with the snowmobiles.

Wild swings of weather are what we are in for. That's the new norm.

Also, as much as we like to bag on the weather forecasters, their jobs are very difficult due to these swings in weather.

Things are sure dry around here this year. Used the ac already and lit a couple of fires after that.

Very dry. I been wanting to pressure wash under my truck to do some badly needed undercoating. I couldnt wait anymore so I did it after we did get some rain. Just looked down the well this morning and I wont be washing laundry until we get more rain. Not a big deal but just a pain in the butt. The weather sure has changed some all year around.

Cycles. I remember here in the late 80s drought and dirt storms. In the 90s rain came back and by late 90s record rain, snow, and floods. In 03 we had the year with no summer, my wife had her winter coat on to watch 4th of July fireworks and my birthday on August 20th I woke up to a yard white with frost. The early 20-teens we had 3 in a row hard heavy snow winters. Last summer we started back on the dry swing. Since last july we have not received a rain over 1 inch and we are 14 inches behind in the last year on rainfall. It really is reminding me of the late 80s drought again, especially since our yearly moisture average is 19 inches.

And who'd of thunk it! Dakotah Territory is the hottest place in the nation right now. So far this year we are cold to hot a 130° swing. Screenshot_20210604-160802_Facebook.jpg

Eric VW officially it got up to 99 today beating the old record of 93, also set back in 1934. So far the humidity has not been too bad. This is the first 99 degree day since back in 2012. Guess we had a few cold years between. :handshake:
