I was looking at my stack in back of the house earlier and couldnt get over how much the wood has shrunk. Its silver maple from tropical storm Isais that hit early August so 9+ months drying. I think i SS it the same month. I normally stack to within an inch on the soffit board. Front stack was done later and was short a few splits at that corner. Have to put a MM to them and check. Its a covered area behind our house where i can stack 1 3/4 cords. The front stack was stacked a few months later.
It's amazing how much it shrinks and settles. When we stacked the hickory in the big shed, we stacked it as high or a bit higher than the 8ft pallet walls. Got a load out a few weeks ago. It was about 2" down.
Two days after taking 60 lbs of wood to the groin at 100 mph I’ve got no comment. I’m just keeping my hand on my stack like you Brad.
