I plan to pull it in the shop tomorrow after work & change the oil & give it a good look over. We'll put it to work this weekend & see how it does. I ran it briefly in the guy's yard to verify operation & hauled it home.
The only thing he missed on that built is the 6" chrome stacks out the top! Interested in hearing how it actually works...
Right lol. I guess he owned an auto body supply. I'm wondering that too, we'll see. May add another tank.
Wow, I completely missed the oil pan! That's quite the engine cover alright. What's underneath it for an engine?
20HP Kohler Magnum. He just cut the front 1/2 of a lawn tractor off & used that as the engine mount. The oil pan "hood scoop" cracked me up, but it looks kinda cool. I changed the oil & filter & messed with it a bit after work. It seems to work well, no apparent issues. The log lift comes up past 90 degrees & will interfere with the push plate, so I gotta put a stop in the cylinder & turn down the flow to the cylinder a bit. It's got a decent cycle time & shorter stroke than my rugged split at only 24" so it should make campfire wood quicker without having to use a stroke limiter. It's pretty well built I think. For $ 600.00 it won't take long to pay for itself.
Does it have solar panels if the engine fails and the battery goes dead? Cool looking machine there AC. How many ton you think?
Ha, no solar panels lol. Judging by cylinder bore & pump I'd say 35ish ton. Way more than necessary, but it is what it is.
Sure does, I gotta limit the stroke & speed though. somebody broke the flow control valve on the lift & it comes past 90 degrees so it can get tangled up with the ram. If it pans out I'll add a log stop & catch tray to it as well.
At first I thought it was propane powered! Then I saw the other pic with the lines running to it. Cool machine; nice score! Keep us posted on how it looks once you give it a once over.
Did that yesterday, pretty solid machine. Needs a couple little tweaks, but it was cheap & should speed up splitting around here. 40F & sideways rain here today so it won't get run till tomorrow. I've got tree jobs to look at today.
