Pretty good winds last night. Still could put a kite with ease

Local news reporting a gust of 52mph, in this area.

It's been breezy, then very gusty. It can stop any time now.

    No damage.

Wind doesn't normally affect my power, but I had several brown outs and then it started flickering badly shortly before noon yesterday. Minor flickers don't really bother me, but bigger stuff takes out my modem so I lose connectivity to work until it resets (about 5 minutes). After several cycles with the modem, I finally texted the boss and told her I'd just take the rest of the day off. The UPS's on the pellet stoves were going on a regular basis (they beep when they are in use), and my alarm clock went off once (it resets everything to noon, including the alarm). Winds reduced about 4 and once the sun went down became mild.

Edit - Tree took wire and several poles down on the main road in town near the substation - guess I was lucky not to loose power outright.

I agree. Be nice if the roof shingles could stay on the house. :)

I get some wind.. I had a tornado f-0 not big for Kansas; another time flipped a 20 foot above ground pool filled 3.5 feet deep upside down.. blew up transformer on pole

blows facia off house BUT through hurricane nailing and grace of god shingles have stayed on new roofs 7 years!! Good luck with roof :handshake:

I can't believe you actually said that!
I'm actually looking forward to a summer watching everyone else hoard BUT me :D All I plan to go after is the stuff next door but all that hoarding in the heat gets old fast... I had my share last year.

Glad we didn't get any of that. The barn is already insured. Have had on and off showers since about 11 am. The last one was a down pour but didn't last long.

It's still very warm out up here with some good steady winds but we still haven't received any rain.
